"Hello, everyone!" Anakin boomed through the megaphone as people arrived. "It's the middle of August in Maryland, which is just the best time of year if you love being sticky, hot, and mosquito bitten!"

You should really work for the tourism board, Anakin.

"So today we will engage in activities that will take your mind off of such things!" He gestured grandly around the park. "Extreme pinball!"

Oh dear.

There was a pinball games set up inside of the slide, so you will have to insert your body up the down spout of the tube to play. There was one game set on a raft in the center of the lake. There was a pinball machine powered by riding a bike, another one on the ground that you had to play using your feet, and a final one you had to don Drunk Goggles to play.

"Volunteers, listen for your names and retrieve your shirts!"

Eleanor wasn't sure if Kamala being a sloth right now would lead to her getting immunity from being called, but they were about to find out, because she'd brought her recently be-animaled...girlfriend(?) with her to the park all the same.

If anything, though, she was definitely going to see if she could get a spare shirt for her, because she wouldn't want to miss out on that just because of Fandom being Fandom.

"Hey, Eleanor," the avatar of Sloth said to the lady holding a baby sloth. As you do. "And, uh, Kamala, right?" Who was currently adorable, but Gray wasn't about to comment on someone else's SO like that.

Well, she was adorable, either as a sloth or as a person, so Eleanor would hardly be able to hold it against Gray for just spitting straight facts.

"Hey, Gray," she said, with a faint smile and a little bit of a head-shaking sigh, because this place, seriously now, and then a fond little look at the baby sloth snuggled against her shoulder. "And, yeah, this is Kamala. She turned into a sloth on Monday, so she'll probably be like this for a few days, I think. I was going to maybe see you about some advice, but I didn't know if that would be like someone coming to me for...dog-training advice, or something like that..."

"I'm really more of an expert in Sloth than sloths...or I was before I came here." This island. "Uh, have you given her fruit? When I've been a sloth I liked fruit. And leaves." Delicious leaves.

Eleanor nodded. "Lots of bananas and mangoes and carrots and spinach and kale and things like that," she said. "That's what the internet said might be good, anyway. It didn't say anything about the Squishies, but she still likes those, and I figured it wouldn't hurt if she was eating pretty healthily otherwise."

She tilted her head thoughtfully at Gray for a moment as she shifted Kamala's weight against her hip.

"Have you turned into a sloth here often?"

"A couple of times," Gray admitted. "Not always a normal sloth. One time I was a were-sloth, and the other weekend I was a sloth who worked for the DMV." A beat. "That's the Department of Mammal Vehicles." Because that was still funny to him.

It was a shame that Eleanor didn't understand government enough to appreciate the joke for the wonder that it was.

"....so that was you," she noted. "In the hallway of the dorms the other weekend. I figured it might have been, but that weekend was...well, do you remember? I thought I was some guy named Chad, and we talked a little bit. I thought you were some kind of talking dog."

Oh....Chad....

Gray gasped. "You were Chad!" Of course he remembered Chad, the guy who couldn't tell a sloth from a dog. Bless Chad's heart. "I thought he seemed familiar!"

"Lucky Kams," Arden said, holding out her arms to see if she could get a sloth hug. "That's one way to avoid Shenanigans, and, honestly, I'm seeing the merit."

She glanced up at Eleanor and grinned. "Hey Ellie," she said. "Sorry about your date."

"Hey, Arden," Eleanor gave her a sort of rueful smile back. "Honestly, I'm a little disappointed her name didn't still get called, because that would make for one hell of a Shenanigans. And thanks. It's okay. I guess that just means we'll have to reschedule once she's back to herself again."

Oh no, how terrible that would be!

"It seems a little unfair, though," she added. "That she gets struck with the animal thing already and I've been her much longer and haven't had to deal with it at all myself."

She did sort of wonder if that had to do with how she couldn't transform into a wolf, that it extended beyond just her genetics even into Fandom things, but that just gave her a little bit of a headache if she tried to think about it too much.

Arden was of the opinion that Fandom did as Fandom wished and trying to find any internal logic beyond that was just an exercise in futility.

"Maybe you can bring her along," Arden suggested with a grin. "Pretty sure there's nothing in the rules that says you can't. Besides, then she gets her own shirt."

"I was mostly hoping to get her a shirt while we're down here," Eleanor admitted, "and maybe sneak her in if it looks like she could participate. Otherwise, I'd have just left her in my room. This sounded like more fun, though, and I think she'd be kind of disappointed to have missed out on it."

"She can have mine," Arden declared, as a magnanimous friend ought. "Then you two can match and she won't feel like she missed out too badly."
