Welcome Party for the Summer Students and Staff

Despite the slightly overcast sky, the weather is still good for welcoming all of the new arrivals for the Fandom High summer session. The graduation decorations (and gremlin debris) have been cleared from the front lawn, and replaced with tables of information packets, food, and drinks. A series of signs point the students to the information table first, where they can pick up their room assignments from the office drones, and then continue on to the food tables to mingle.

And no, there are no inflatable gremlins around today. It's far too early to start scaring the new folks. That's what the mingling section is for!

Demyx was completely and UTTERLY lost. This was not in the slightest bit like anything he was used to, and he clung to his sitar like it was a security blanket. Nobody was intimidated by him, or even seemed to acknolwedge he was there. "Am I dead?" he asked allowed, following the line of people to the table of paperwork.

He told them his name when they asked, stuttering a little, and received a packet in return. Sufficiently boggled, Demyx moved out of the way to look through the packet. "...Is this hell?" he asked in a small voice, reading the rooming assignments and trying to figure out what was going on.

Between the front gate and the check-in desk, Fry's mood had gotten much better. "I don't know about real hell, but I've been to robot hell and it doesn't look anything like this." He checked out his room assignment. "Five-oh-three. Fifth floor? Cool! Stair luge!"

"..Who are you? And why are you--oh God." Demyx groaned. "I have to live with you? Man...I hate sharing rooms. You'd better be clean and have had all your shots."

"Roomie? Roomie! I'm Fry. Clean no. Shots yes. All the way from the 20th century via the 31st century. I hope our room is bigger than a closet. I shared a closet with my buddy, Bender. It didn't turn out too great. But if it's bigger, it'll be great! Our very own dorm room. Do you like coffee? How about TV?"

"You'll be clean by the time I'm done with you. And if you don't shower, I'll shower your entire side of the room." Demyx kept up with the stream of questions without difficulty. "What is coffee, and what's tv? We don't have those in The World That Never Was."

As Fry was wont to do, he ignored the stuff about showering. "The World That Never Was? Sounds boring. You don't know what coffee or TV is! What century are you from? The century I came from thought that the 20th century was primitive, but at least we have TV and coffee. So what's your name? Or should I just call you 'hair guy'?"

"I don't need tv or coffee. I have music." Demyx's eyebrow twitched. "My name is Demyx. And if you make any comments about my hair again, I really hope you know how to swim."

"The what?" Demyx gave him a weird look. "I make my own music." He pointed to the sitar he held with a very 'see? duh' expression.
