Shop Class 5/01

"Good morning kids and welcome to your final exam," Mac says sadly. "Before we get started I just wanted to say that you kids were great this semester. You make it easy and enjoyable to be a teacher."

Mac pulls out his remote and fiddles with it a bit and the class room rearranges itself so that there are multiple walk-in safes for everyone to use.

"Your exam today is that you will be tied up and placed in a safe which you will need to break out of. The safes are currently under construction so inside you will find various cleaning solutions and a toolbox. Nothing in the toolbox alone will get you out of the safe, but a combination of tools or chemicals should help you find a way out. If you want you can team up with someone or go it alone. ~~Or even handwave it~~."

"Finally I'd like to say this is my final class here at Fandom High. I've had a blast teaching everyone and I wish you luck in the years to come."

"You have your Swiss Army Knife and Duct Tape with you of course."

When everyone finishes the exam, Mac hands out a gift (http://www.swissarmy.com/images/ProductCatalog/vm_53241_sol_a02.jpg) for each student.

Waaaah! No more shop!

Just put it under the exam saying "Before Mac ties her up..."

*snerk* He's having quite the morning, isn't he?

If he still had a mullet? He'd be pulling it out right now.

"Hey Mac?" Nadia said, before going to do the exam (and she'd totally known they'd end up with some weird assignment, dammit). "Can you help me with something?"

She held out her arms, which were each wrapped in rather impressive looking ace-bandage-and-tape things that looked like they'd been hacked at with a dull saw. "I can't get them off."

Mac gives Nadia a confused look followed by a grin. "Let me guess, something you did when you were much younger?" he asked as he began to remove the gaffer's tape with his SAK.

Nadia's expression probably clearly indicated that she'd be blushing if it weren't for the fact that she was too frustrated right now to be embarrassed.

"Yes. Phoebe had one so I had to have them, too." She sighed. "I hate peer pressure."

Mac chuckled as he removed the final bit of the cast from her arm. "Well it's a good thing you used this inferior gaffer tape otherwise I'd never be able to get these things off."

Cue the glare of doom. "Gaffers tape isn't inferior, its structurally similar to duct tape while providing greater flexibility and much less residue."

Yes, she was aware this was an argument she would probably never, ever win. Still.

"That's a very good point Nadia," Mac said throwing the remains of her casts into the trash. "But duck tape is still better."

That glare of doom? Yeah, it's still going. "I wouldn't say 'better'. Different, yes. But sometimes it's better to have tape that you can cut and remove with relative ease, while still having strong gripping power."

This? Has been bugging her all semester. She's got a whole list of arguments.

Ivanova arrived half an hour late and sporting a very impressive black eye. Except by this point it was more like a green and purple eye. Which is ironic as green and purple was what got her into this whole mess in the first place.

She sheepishly slipped up to Mac. "Sorry for being late, sir."

"Not a problem Ivanova. Did you have a good weekend?"

"The point of duck tape is to not remove it," Mac countered a little wearily. "Though I can see your point about the flexibility of gaffers but quite honestly I can trust a tape that you can easily remove."

Ivanova gave him a flat look.

"Not especially."

"But my point is that duct tape is not infallible." Nadia shrugged. Whatever, last class, she really didn't want to spend it arguing with her favorite teacher. "But I guess everyone has their preference. Just tie me up already."

John's in his safe all tied up. It's really quite weird. Wriggling over to the toolbox, he manages to opens it with his fingers and digs around for a screwdriver or something of that nature.

Finding a screwdriver, he works it against the ropes tying him together. He hits his wrists a few times but manages to loosen the ropes enough so he can slide his arms out of them.

Now, to get out of the safe.

Since there's no electricity in the safe, drilling is out. He tries to take the screwdriver and uses a hammer to pound in the place where the lock might be. No dice.

Tunneling out of the safe is also out because hello, floor.

John scratches his head.

He tries something different. He reaches for the knife and tries to work it into the safe material, making a small hole. John uses the screwdriver to widen it so he can wedge the screwdriver in. The hammer gets cracked against the screwdriver and the screwdriver does go further into the safe material.

Unfortunately, he's not in the right place. He does this seven times before he finally hits the spot where the lock is. He hammers the screwdriver through the lock, breaking the lock and popping open the safe.

Mac nodded and began to tie Nadia up ~~and resisted the urge to put a gag on her as well~~. "You ready?"

Nadia shrugged. "Guess so," and went to get started on the exam ~~which will be in another thread, omg~~

Sam quietly took her seat in the chair and waited to be tied up so she could complete the assignment.

No reason why she couldn't look at Mac. Or why she was blushing bright red. Really.
