With fall and winter quickly approaching, Gladio wasn't really sure how many more nice days they'd have left to do something like this, so he wanted to take advantage of a good day while they had it. Which meant everyone in class was going to be redirected to the beach that day, where he had set up a few volleyball nets and was waiting for everyone with a volleyball being idly tossed between his hands.

"Hey, everyone," he greeted with a nod and a grin. "If you haven't figured out by now what we're doing for today, then I'm going to go ahead and guess you're just not that familiar with volleyball. But you're in luck, because we're going to learn how to play it today and pick up some good coordination skills and maybe even some teamwork points while we're at it.

"So, take some time to get warmed up while I explain the rules of the game. If you already know 'em, just sit tight for those who don't. And then we'll split you guys up into teams. We've got a good number for pairs ~~assuming everyone was there~~, and since things can feel a little different depending on who you're paired with, we'll switch 'em up after each game. Any questions for me right out the gate before I start breaking things down?"

"Your choice then," Nell said with a smile. "I trust you."

There was a moment, his grin slightly tempered by that I trust you, but then he shook his head and sighed a little with a sort of overexaggerated disappointment over his hands being tied in this situation. "Alright," he said. "You asked for it."

And then promptly shifted so that he was getting up, but not without scooping Nell up with him, boldly announcing, "Into the ocean you go."

Nell laughed and clung to him. "Oh no! Not the ocean!" She trusted him, but she also wasn't about to let go of him. She'd never put more than a foot into the ocean here.

While Nell protested, Gladio took a couple of steps forward, but then he stopped, looking over with a grin.

"Nah," he said, "I'm just kidding. It was actually this."

And he leaned in, pulling her closer, to kiss her.

Nell kissed him without hesitation, but whispered against his lips, "Kissing and carrying! I got both." And kissed him again.

When she came up for air she smiled against his cheek. "I'd have gone into the water with you. I do trust you."

"With me?" Gladio chuckled a little. "I was just going to toss in."

"No, you weren't," Nell said confidently. "You know I can't swim and might be scared. You might pretend, but you'd come withme."

To that, at first, all Gladio could do was respond with a soft smile on his face as he gazed fondly at Nell. Then, all he could do was lean in again to kiss her again.

"No pulling one over on you."

"Not for anything like that," Nell said, kissing him back. "Other things I'm sure you could surprise me with, but not something that you thought would scare me."

"Never," Gladio promised, with a little bit of solemnity seeping into it, and after he kissed her this next time, he rested his forehead against hers.

"So those were my ideas," he said. "What're some of yours?"

"Have to admit kissing was top of my hoped for list," Nell said. "Followed close by maybe lying on my blanket in the sun in your arms."

"I think that sounds pretty do-able, I think," Gladio decided, turning away to carry Nell further from the threat of being tossed into the ocean after all.

"You do like to carry me around," Nell said fondly. "My blanket is over there by where we left our things."

She was more than happy to be held, even if his liking for carrying her around got her smiling.
