With fall and winter quickly approaching, Gladio wasn't really sure how many more nice days they'd have left to do something like this, so he wanted to take advantage of a good day while they had it. Which meant everyone in class was going to be redirected to the beach that day, where he had set up a few volleyball nets and was waiting for everyone with a volleyball being idly tossed between his hands.

"Hey, everyone," he greeted with a nod and a grin. "If you haven't figured out by now what we're doing for today, then I'm going to go ahead and guess you're just not that familiar with volleyball. But you're in luck, because we're going to learn how to play it today and pick up some good coordination skills and maybe even some teamwork points while we're at it.

"So, take some time to get warmed up while I explain the rules of the game. If you already know 'em, just sit tight for those who don't. And then we'll split you guys up into teams. We've got a good number for pairs ~~assuming everyone was there~~, and since things can feel a little different depending on who you're paired with, we'll switch 'em up after each game. Any questions for me right out the gate before I start breaking things down?"

Take some time to stretch and warm up your muscles while Gladio demonstrates and goes over how to play the game, its rules, and a few tips for a good volleyball game, and ask any questions if you've got 'em!

Now it's time to split up into teams and get to playing! Game One is Graham and Nell vs. Alara and Jon.

RNG give sit to Alara and Jon!

Game Two is Graham and Alara versus Nell and Jon.

RNG gives it to Nell and Jon!

Which means we've got Graham and Jon versus Nell and Alara.

And the RNG gives it to Nell and Alara!

Last game is Everyone versus Gladio because he thinks that's funny.

Even if the RNG says he's loses, but that's surely just because everyone else had a chance to really warm up with those other three games.

At least he's not a sore loser. Not about going up against four other people, anyway.

Nell Ingram

Nell was certainly unfamiliar with volleyball, but she was willing to give it a shot.

Nell was feeling a bit more confident now, despite having lost the match to Alara and Jon, so this time felt better.

Nell was a bit short to effectively strike the ball, but she did turn out to be a very good setter.

Or perhaps he was too busy laughing at all their antics? That might be it too.

After class Nell had found a quiet spot on the beach to watch the ocean while anyone who might have the need to talk to Gladio did so. After that if he happened to wander over and sit next to her, well, that would be lovely.

Well, wouldn't you know, once everyone cleared out and made their merry ways off after class, Gladio was coming over to do just that.

"Is this seat taken?" he asked, after he'd gone and sat down next to Nell, complete with a theatrical groan or two in the settling process. He was a tall guy! The sand was all down there! It was a long journey for him!

"I suppose it could be free," Nell said with a smile. "If you'd like it."

She gave him a little nudge once he was seated and smiled up at him. He was, as he'd said, a tall guy!

"You know," Gladio said, looking thoughtfully as he got comfortable, legs bent in front of him so he could lean forward a little on his knees as he grinned over at Nell, "I think I would like it, thanks.

"Good work out there today," he added. Would he have said it regardless if it was true? Who knew? Who would ever know, she always put out good work.

"You're most welcome," she said primly, then grinned. "It was fun, all the running around and trying to get the ball over."

"You are too, too kind," Gladio tried his hand at primly, too, but it melted much too quickly into a grin. "And so am I. Thought I'd be nice and let you guys do something fun every once in a while, too."

Nell smiled up at him. "Then thank you. I enjoy exercising and it feels good, but I never thought too much about it being able to be fun before."

"See, now," Gladio said, "I kind of see it all as fun, really, at this point, but I know not everyone feels that way. And I've been turning into kind of a softie," he leaned in a little to nudge Nell with his shoulder as he grinned, "this past year or so."

Not being in constant Survive and Protect mode could do that to a person, really.

She laughed and nudged him back. "I enjoy what I do, I just never really played a game. And the baseball on the tv isn't really very active. Or... maybe I've just corrupted you!"

"Oh, yeah," Gladio snorted, "that's definitely it."

The next nudge was really far more of a lean of his shoulder into hers, his face turned toward hers with a lifted eyebrow as he added, his voice dropped just a little lower as if to prove the point, "You're the corrupting factor in all of this."

"I'm sooo bad," Nell said with mock sorrow, before grinning up into his lean. "Whatever will you do with me?"

She had an idead or two.

"Hmmm." Gladio hummed thoughtfully, taking a moment to turn away again to look around, both to buy a little dramatic time and perhaps, if he was completely honest, to confirm that, yes, class and teaching duties were officially over and they've moved to just unrelated sitting on the beach. And then he looked back over to Nell and held up two fingers on his hand. "I can think of two things. You wanna take a bet on picking one or two, or should I man up and choose one myself?"
