Movie night, Friday

Had Jon been sleeping well this week? Of course not. But Jon never slept well, so he didn't look rougher than he ever did. Which at the moment was "moderately".

He still gave his best smile as he stood at the front of the room, because at least this wasn't any form of tea again.

"Um. Welcome to class. I'm Jonathan Sims. I think the idea behind this class is to catch up on modern pop culture, and so those of us - or maybe you - who know it can help the ones who don't. The, um. The moose had a suggestion for the first week's movie, so we're going to go with that this week." In the hopes that it would save him more tea later.

"Also we should probably still do introductions, I suppose. Um. Again, I'm Jonathan Sims. I'm from London in...well more or less modern times; I lost a couple years, but not much. And I'm here because the moose assigned me to it."

He nodded at the first person to start.

Amaya gave Irene a withering look that probably wasn't nearly as much for show as one might think. There was definitely threads of genuine pain in that expression.

"You?" she asked. "Always? Really? If you thought smithing was bad for your nice nails and moisturized hands, Irene, just wait until they're all covered in potter's clay, and then we'll see about that."

"Chipped nails can be repainted," Irene commented, very deliberately blithe in the face of all that withering. "And look, you get a pretty pot at the end."

A pause, a tilt of her head. "Though I suspect this isn't the standard process."

"Terrible technique," Amaya critiqued decisively. "Easily two hands too many. And, let me just tell you, if that were me he was interrupting in the middle of making a perfectly decent pot, it'd be a good thing he was already dead, because, zounds, would he end up wishing he was!"

As a warning, perhaps, to anyone in the room both living or dead right now that might be getting any ideas.

"S'lucky," she added, for good measure,"it takes time to fire a pot, else that post would go smashing right over his head."

"Does seem like bad manners to interrupt," Irene agreed quietly, her smile shifting into a very thoughtful bite of her lower lip. "Better move'd be to drive her to distraction without actually getting in her way. Work her up, plant some ideas, meet her upstairs after."

Oh, whoops, Irene's innocent mistake. "Or in the other room, I suppose. Whatever their flat's layout is." Slip of the tongue, there.

"Even better," said Amaya, who was thinking right about now that movie class was a mistake, and all it was really missing to make it the full awkward experience was if Dwight was taking it, too, "if the poor woman could be just left to work in peace."

Oh, yeah, Amaya, it really looked like it was a real hardship for her, too, didn't it?
