Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day

Even if a new term wasn't starting soon, today would be the perfect day for a picnic. The weather was calm and warm, the food table was full, and there was a respectable amount of glitter on the decorations. There might have been a bigger party going on somewhere else, but here it was time to celebrate the start of summer!

"London, yes," Steven said. "Getting some things set up for Llewellyn. Paperwork and the like. You? Radio said you'd a bit of excitement last week, to put it mildly."

[stykera]

"More excitement than I would have liked," Stark said. "I was a very large and very angry raccoon and the usual raccoons were following me around and cheering me on. I prefer being myself."

And not being knocked out repeatedly!

Steven took all of that in. Stark had been a koala before so the animal transformation wasn't as much of a shock. On the other hand, "The raccoons were supportive? That's nice at least. I mean compared to their usual."

"The raccoons are overly fond of me," Stark said with a sigh. "They made little masks. Summer had to keep them from dragging me off after she knocked me unconscious. Again."

"Masks that look like you or masks that look like your mask?" Steven asked. It was arguably a fine line of difference but he was still curious.

[stykera]

"Masks like mine," Stark said, reaching up to touch the edge of it.

"Out of foil, I think?"

[hasaknightjob]

"That's pretty clever," Steven had to admit. "Though I suppose if they can make beer arts and crafts isn't too far off for their skills."

[stykera]

"They're much too clever for my comfort," Stark said. "But I haven't seen them since. Not yet. Summer did hit a few of them. Perhaps she scared them of."

[hasaknightjob]

"She can be intimidating when she wants to be," Steven agreed. "Told her I imagined the island was in good hands with her about. Dealing with the creatures I mean."

[stykera]

"She can be very intimidating," Stark agreed, grinningly slightly.

That was part of her charm!

"She did well, dealing with all of us. She always does."

"Sounds like she took care of you," Steven said. "Er, in a sort of firm way, I suppose."

[stykera]

Stark nodded.

"She did. Your trip went well though? Nothing terrible happened?"

[hasaknightjob]

Steven started to say no, since there'd been no werecreature invasions since Moon Knight wasn't included in that special presentation. But then he realized Stark might want to hear about the one bit of news which wasn't great by any means.

"Not with Llewellyn or anything like that," Steven said. "But Marc and me - we did get some news that's got us shook. Turns out we've been doing things for Khonshu this past year and can't remember any of it."

"But you've been here," Stark said. "Nothing's happened here that we don't know about. Has it?"

[hasaknightjob]

"I'm as lost as you are," Steven said. "Maybe we popped home without realizing? Or it was things across the causeway Khonshu cared about? Marc and me are at a loss. He says normally he at least knows when he's got blanks in his memories but here he was as surprised as me."

[stykera]

"I'm sorry," Stark said. "That must be hard. For both of you. Are you alright?"

[hasaknightjob]

"Confused," Steven said. "Worried about Marc. Odds are pretty high it wasn't me Khonshu asked to do anything. I mean we've had gaps in our memories since we came here, no question. But we thought - smaller? Minute here, fifteen minutes there sort of a thing? This would've been a few days, easy. No idea."

[stykera]

"Someone would have noticed if you'd gone missing," Stark said.

Someone being Watts. Obviously.

"That's...I'm sorry." He wasn't sure what else to say.

[hasaknightjob]

"And Khonshu's not known for... I mean he doesn't lie far as I can tell?" Steven said. "But he does manipulate. Especially Marc. Wouldn't surprise me if the old buzzard is trying to get into Marc's head somehow."

Obviously Steven had strong opinions about anyone trying to get into Marc's head, given where he lived after all.

"Thank you though," Steven said. "If you see either of us acting strange - well stranger than usual, can you let us know? Maybe it'll help us notice lost time or something."

"Of course I will," Stark said, frowning. "Is there anything else I can do?"

[hasaknightjob]

"Can't think of anything at the moment," Steven admitted. "But if I do you're first on my list. How are you in general, by the way? Things well?"

[stykera]

"Well enough," Stark said with a nod. "At least when I'm myself. I have another class, with Summer."

[hasaknightjob]

"Food, I'm guessing?" Steven said. "Which one this time?"

[stykera]

"'20th Century Food Crimes' this time. Summer's idea," Stark said, unnecessarily.

[hasaknightjob]

"Don't suppose you mean the kind of crime that's about someone trying to steal too many cakes?" Steven asked, ever hopeful.
