Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day

Even if a new term wasn't starting soon, today would be the perfect day for a picnic. The weather was calm and warm, the food table was full, and there was a respectable amount of glitter on the decorations. There might have been a bigger party going on somewhere else, but here it was time to celebrate the start of summer!

Stark nodded.

"She did. Your trip went well though? Nothing terrible happened?"

Steven started to say no, since there'd been no werecreature invasions ~~since Moon Knight wasn't included in that special presentation~~. But then he realized Stark might want to hear about the one bit of news which wasn't great by any means.

"Not with Llewellyn or anything like that," Steven said. "But Marc and me - we did get some news that's got us shook. Turns out we've been doing things for Khonshu this past year and can't remember any of it."

"But you've been here," Stark said. "Nothing's happened here that we don't know about. Has it?"

"I'm as lost as you are," Steven said. "Maybe we popped home without realizing? Or it was things across the causeway Khonshu cared about? Marc and me are at a loss. He says normally he at least knows when he's got blanks in his memories but here he was as surprised as me."

"I'm sorry," Stark said. "That must be hard. For both of you. Are you alright?"

"Confused," Steven said. "Worried about Marc. Odds are pretty high it wasn't me Khonshu asked to do anything. I mean we've had gaps in our memories since we came here, no question. But we thought - smaller? Minute here, fifteen minutes there sort of a thing? This would've been a few days, easy. No idea."

"Someone would have noticed if you'd gone missing," Stark said.

Someone being Watts. Obviously.

"That's...I'm sorry." He wasn't sure what else to say.

"And Khonshu's not known for... I mean he doesn't lie far as I can tell?" Steven said. "But he does manipulate. Especially Marc. Wouldn't surprise me if the old buzzard is trying to get into Marc's head somehow."

Obviously Steven had strong opinions about anyone trying to get into Marc's head, given where he lived after all.

"Thank you though," Steven said. "If you see either of us acting strange - well stranger than usual, can you let us know? Maybe it'll help us notice lost time or something."

"Of course I will," Stark said, frowning. "Is there anything else I can do?"

"Can't think of anything at the moment," Steven admitted. "But if I do you're first on my list. How are you in general, by the way? Things well?"

"Well enough," Stark said with a nod. "At least when I'm myself. I have another class, with Summer."

"Food, I'm guessing?" Steven said. "Which one this time?"

"'20th Century Food Crimes' this time. Summer's idea," Stark said, unnecessarily.

"Don't suppose you mean the kind of crime that's about someone trying to steal too many cakes?" Steven asked, ever hopeful.

Forty cakes, Steven? Because that would be terrible. That's as many as four tens!

"No. No stealing of cakes." Stark shook his head.

"So the other type of crime then?" Steven said. He was starting to remember the words "maggot cheese."

Some things were best left in the past, Steven.

"The other type," Stark confirmed. "Are you taking any of the workshops?"

"Lana's actually," Steven said. "She's invited Marc and me to come visit her home before but we've never managed to make it work. So bit excited about getting the official tour from her now. You?"

"Blacksmithing with Amaya."

Gotta work on those arms, you know.

"And paintball, of course. And...The Floor is Lava?"

Steven jumped, because it was Fandom after all. Then he realized. "Oh - is that a class?"

They were outside, Steven. There was no floor!

"It is. And then I have my class with Summer. So I'll keep a little busier, for the summer."

Floor could mean many things! Especially around here!

"And the class - not actual lava, is it?" Steven asked, just to be sure.

"Not that I know of. The school tries not to kill students. Even in the summer."

Not even on Wednesdays?

"That's good then," Steven said. "And good you're keeping busy. I've my eye out for things for Marc to do. He might pop in on Lana's trips, so that's something. But he needs more. I was chatting about that with Summer the other day, actually. You know her and her good advice."

If Anakin killed people he wouldn't be able to torment them later!

"She does give good advice," Stark said with a fond smile.

"I know he's been at the gym getting his stickers from Gladio. Does he want more things to do?"
