Dream is seated cross-legged on his desk as he greets his students. "Hello. Today's task should be easy enough; use the books around the room and in the library, if needed, to work on your final papers. I would like you to choose your topics for class on Thursday, and then the papers will be due on May 4."

Nadia approached Dream a little bit hesitantly after class. "Professor Dream, you teach Creature Languages, right?"

"I do," Dream agreed.

Nadia nodded. "Walter's in that class, and he interviewed my cat Furrball for a project. I thought I'd offer that Furrball could help out some of the other students, if you wanted."

Dream appeared touched. "That would be wonderful. WOuld he be available for class third period on Thursday, or would you prefer students arrange interviews with him through you?"

"He could go to class. As long as someone made sure he didn't run off, afterwards."

"Do you think your friend Walter could manage that?," Dream asked, nodding. "Or I could keep him in my office after class until you could pick him up."

Considering their history together, and that yesterday's interview had apparently involved threats of being fed one's own kneecaps, Nadia was pretty sure that Walter could, in fact, handle it.

"I'll check with him to make sure, but I think Walter wouldn't mind handling him."

"It is a plan, then. And I thank you."

"You're welcome. I think Furrball will probably love to get out of my room for a bit."

John, before notepassing, asks Dream generic questions about a generic final paper. He does not do it to ask if Dream's a fan of butter and jam.

And, returning the favor, Dream does not tell John he prefers marmalade, or ask how he feels about the works of Mary Shelly.

Anders has a free period next, so he figures while he's here, what the hell? He hangs back for a while at the end of class, hoping to talk to Dream.

"Sir? This, um, isn't about my final paper or anything, but if I could ask you a quick question?"

Dream nodded. "You may."

"Thanks, sir." He shifted from one foot to the other awkwardly, fiddling with the strap of his backpack and not daring to look up. "I, um. When you have a dream that seems way more real than you're used to, does it have to mean something, or could it just be a fluke?"

"Dreams are fragments," the professor said. "They all mean something, but they are not all true, no. So it may be, as you say, a fluke."

Anders nodded slowly. "Dreamed I was rich and successful and the only person left on my entire planet. Been kind of wondering if that was me being afraid of what might happen to me if I got too ambitious," he said, carefully leaving out the part about Cally being gone; that was a fear he didn't want to voice again.

"Is that what you believe, Mr. Anders?" Dream asked. "It is as good an explanation as any."

He brought a hand to his chin briefly. "It is not something that must happen, simply because it was dreamt."

"It --" It wasn't strictly true, but Anders nodded again. "I am scared of success turning me into a jerk, yeah. It could've been a warning. Is that possible?"

"Many things are possible," Dream said. "But no, I do not think that is necessary your destiny."

Anders let out a long breath and was surprised to realize he'd been holding it in. "Okay. That's all I really needed to know, sir." He grinned awkwardly. "One less thing off my mind while I work on my final project, I guess."

Dream nodded. "I am glad I was of help, then."

"You were. Thanks, sir." Anders smiled, readjusted his backpack on his shoulder, and started backing away slowly. "See you on Thursday."

[OOC: "One less thing ON my mind." ON, not off. *facepalm*]
