Mac walks in and realizes he forgot his #2 pencil. Using his SAK, charred remnants of the floor that are lying in the corner and duct tape, he quietly makes his own pencil and takes the quiz.

He then realizes that he has not gotten a partner for lab and is in living fear of what to do.

He waits until everyone has turned in the quiz and approaches his teacher.

...I got worried you were going to miss class. I would have run out and called your voicemail, but I got all into sketching this neuron and lost track of time. How'd ya do on the test? Pretty easy if you ask me, but then again it was the first test.
