Summer Shenanigans, Wednesday, June 22, 2022

Today was hot and humid, which meant that it was the perfect temperature for all of the water balloon-themed games Anakin had set out in the park today.

(Most of them were filled with water and that's all that matters, right?)

"As usual, you will be working in teams," Anakin shouted through his megaphone. "There are various stations for you to attempt! The most accurate team wins!"

Did anyone even care about winning these days?

"Listen for your names!"

Always a classic. The first two members of your team (Rosa and Dwight; Libby and Scott; Wanda and Vi; Beaker and Amaya)--each armed with a water balloon because Anakin likes to make things difficult--line up across from each other. You toss and catch the balloons, then take three steps back each and repeat the process until a balloon breaks.

And the balloons are filled with red Kool-Aid. Surprise!

There was a giant dartboard in a different section of the park, and buckets full of water balloons filled with chocolate pudding. Working in pairs (Steph & Sakaki; Watts & Alara; Annie & Irene; Graham & Gray), you have to kick the balloons at the target. The first team to score two bulls-eyes wins.

How low can you go? Especially with distractions? There is a limbo pole! Your job is for both members of your team (Guillermo & Buck; Diego & Will; Jo & Stark; Connor & Steve) to get low without falling over or touching the pole while the members of the other teams are throwing water balloons--for once filled with water--at you.

Make those threads messy, folks. Aim at everyone!

This morning has been a MORNING.

Yeah, Wanda was on the third team and was horribly embarrassed by her shirt.

So she'd just be standing here with her arms across her chest.

Steve had some spare time before heading up to New York for a few days, so here he was, enjoying snacks!

"Anakin." That was said in a very disapproving but somehow very resigned tone.

Stark very quickly pulled his new shirt on then just looked down at it in dismay.

"Hell yeah, Stabby Water Balloon," Steve said, grinning as he put his shirt on.

He'd be wearing this on regular days too, thanks.

"Meep meep meep mee!" Beaker said optimistically, holding up his water balloon and waving at Amaya.

Steph was amused enough by her team's shirts, and maybe scheming to steal one of the adorable pufferfish ones, but oof, team 3's shirt. Oof. She was too busy feeling sorry for Vi and Stark and Annie and their teammates to put too much thought into a pufferfish t-shirt heist, luckily for team 4.

"Damn, glad I stopped wearing any of my good shoes for this," Steph said, eyeing the bucket of water balloons dubiously.

She tried to scoop one of them up onto her toes and then sort of fling it at the target from there, which resulted in chocolate pudding all over her shoe ~~because I rolled a 5 because OF COURSE I WAS GOING TO ROLL FOR IT~~.

"Dude, seriously?"

Was McGarrett going to treat this act of ridiculous like some kind of SEAL op?

Yes, yes he was. He was focused and bendy, thanks to Rosa's class.

This was not going to go well for Stark, was it? He wouldn't be able to avoid any balloons on the right and bending over backwards was not something he practiced with any sort of regularity. Or irregularity. It was not a thing he did.

Careful, Steph, or you might be subjected to a sad puppy eye.

And a resigned little shrug. There was definitely that.

"He does this on purpose."

Watts just sighed and pulled off his suit-jacket and waistcoat, leaving them in a not-so-neat pile topped off with his hat in a place that should at least be well beyond the splash zone.

At least now he had something to wear for laundry day?

"Fun, right?"

Maybe just for you, Steve.

Dwight looked across the way and gave a slight sigh. This was fine right? Rosa surely wouldn't let personal vendettas get in the way of the team winning right?

"Alright, gonna send it over" he said as he got ready to gently toss his water balloon over.

"For Anakin, I think."

Not so much for glowy aliens.

Steve chuckled. "He has some kind of a weird sense of humor, brah."

See, now, this was just cute and wholesome ans Libby kind of loved this week's shirt? Not even her father would find it objectionable!

She might have felt a little disappointed, but she figured it was best to just count her blessings with this one.

"He's the only one who finds it funny."

That was not even a little bit true, Stark.

"I've given up trying to understand him."
