Today was hot and humid, which meant that it was the perfect temperature for all of the water balloon-themed games Anakin had set out in the park today.

(Most of them were filled with water and that's all that matters, right?)

"As usual, you will be working in teams," Anakin shouted through his megaphone. "There are various stations for you to attempt! The most accurate team wins!"

Did anyone even care about winning these days?

"Listen for your names!"

"Yeah, the new look probably works better with that," Annie agreed, wincing. "Countess is all about, like, spandex or leather, back home, and I don't think she contorts as much as you."

Believe her, it would have come up a whole lot if she did, given...everything about Annie's world. Literally everything.

"And you just need your hands too, right?" Wanda checked. "That might be why they felt comfortable putting you in...the old uniform."

She said 'the old uniform' like it was the aunt nobody in the family talked about anymore.

That was pretty much how Annie talked about it, too!

"Yup," Annie agreed, nodding. "The bigger issue, honestly, was those heels. I couldn't run and like...I kinda need to, when I fight."

Annie was kind of a tank, was the thing. A sparkly, distracting, blunt-force tank. She made a terrible turret.

"Oh. Yeah, that makes sense," she said. "Natasha had heeled boots but she was like the most graceful person on the planet, so I never saw her fall on her face."

"Natasha seems like one of those women who can make that stuff look effortless," Annie replied, smiling a little.

And Annie could make it look like it took less effort than most, after months and months of practice with those boots, but she was never going to be in, the like, femme fatale Russian spy leagues.

"She was," Wanda confirmed with a smile. Yes, Annie, more dead people in Wanda's life.

"At least we get to wear what we want?" Wanda said. "Including the t-shirts here."

Whelp. She probably should have predicted that. (But that made it all the sweeter that time Natasha had randomly been here, right?)

Annie bit her lower lip in a wordless apology, looking down at her shirt. "I mean, I'm sure someone, like, loves these shirts."

Annie needed to talk to Buck more.

"I mean, most of the time I use them to clean in?" she said. "But this one...I might keep it now I changed it. So long as I don't get hit with something gross."

"Even then, kind of just more of an excuse to use it to like clean the oven or something," Annie replied, like her oven actually needed cleaning. "Or I might like, rip it up into rags. Ooh, or I bet there's something on Pinterest about how to turn a shirt into twenty scrunchies."

"I lose hair ties a lot, but twenty seems excessive." Just a tad bit. Cats could only steal so many and hide them under the couch.

"I have two apartments," Annie pointed out. "Twice the losing potential. And plus I could give them away! I'm from the Midwest -- that kind of thing is unironically cool back in Iowa."
