Shop Class: [4/19]

When the students enter the shop class today they'll see that it has been turned into a Moobyland Restaurant. Coffee and Egg McMooby Muffins are available for everyone to partake of.

They'll also see that Mac has returned and is sans crutches and cast and looking mighty chipper.

"Good morning everyone! It's good to be back in Fandom and I hope everyone was good to Carter while I was gone."

"Today you have your choice of assignments. You can:

A. Devise a food container that will keep the hot parts of the McMooby burger hot while keeping the cool parts cool.
B. Devise a French Fry container that will eliminate fries from falling into the main part of the 'Carry out' bag.
C. Create your own Mooby themed fast food item."

"Hey Carter, thanks for taking care of classes for me while I was gone," Mac said placing a cup of coffee in front of her. "Did anyone cause you any problems while I was gone?"

"You're welcome," she grinned, taking the coffee gratefully. "And no, everyone was great, but I should, er, introduce you to someone."

She walked over and activated the equipment. A baby purple brontosaurus appeared. "Mac, this is Denver. Kawalsky keeps feeding him bologna."

Mac smiled as he kneeled down to take a look at the dinosaur. "Well isn't he a cutie? Where did he come from?"

The dinosaur blinked back as Sam answered, "I created him one day in class when I was feeling silly. Er, long story."

Mac attempted to give Denver a pat on the head. "Well if he hasn't been already, I think we should make your new friend the class mascot. Does he eat McMooby muffins as well?"

Nadia was briefly distracted by the appearance of Denver.

Secrets of the universe.

She'd make that dinosaur speak someday. . . .

Then she shook her head. Okay, she was definitely not doing the whole day stoned thing again any time soon.

"Hey!" The innocent look on Denver's face as he ate the last of the egg Sam had removed from her McMooby muffin probably should have answered Mac's question.

"You're looking much healthier. How was your time off?" As they talked, Sam began sketching a mesh-lined cardboard container.

"Spent most of it being tortured in physical therapy by this tall guy named Gunter," Mac said feeding Denver another McMooby Muffin. "The guy was a total fascist, but I've got most of my mobility back. Anything interesting happen at school while I was gone?"

"I had to babysit my way through a detention in hell," she muttered, "but, for me, at least, it's been pretty quiet. Plus, prom's coming up, so everyone's all stupid about that."

"Detention? What did you do to get detention? And what's so bad about Prom? ~~You could wear the leather pants again~~" Mac asked as he tickled Denver underneath his chin.

"I fell asleep in class," she said, a bit sheepishly. "Supreme Court cases can be boring. And..." she shrugged, "I wasn't planning on going with anyone, and now I am, and, well, yeah."

For some reason Mac seemed to be very relieved about Sam going with someone to prom.

Can't imagine why.

"Well that's good! At least you are going with a friend and I'm sure you'll have a great time."

Sam may have glared slightly at Kawalsky. "Yeah, but I'm not sure he wanted to go at all, let alone with me. It's a little strange. Plus, there's dress shopping, and..." she blinked, "and you don't care, and I'm sorry for rambling."

"Give yourself a little credit Carter. You're young, attractive and can build a chemical explosive out of common household cleaners. What guy wouldn't want to go out with you?" Mac asked. "And I hardly consider this rambling. Just don't ask me to choose which color is best for you and we'll be fine."

As if on cue, Kawalsky stopped by with a sandwich for Denver. He waited until the little guy had eaten it all up, patted him on the head and then went off to work on his project.

"Kawalsky!"

"Sam!" Kawalsky said cheerily, despite knowing what he was in for.

Sam stalked over, trying to decide whether or not she should try to punch him. Being vain, she chose not to be in a cast for the prom. "I can't believe...actually," she sighed, "I can believe it. Why did you do that?"

"Cam's having a really rough time after the...thing." He gestured to his head. "And was being stubborn about going and I *know* you two could have a lot of fun if he'd just get off his ass and asked you, but he wouldn't, so I did it by proxy."

"Damn it, Charlie," she scowled, "now I can't vow eternal revenge. I just wish I hadn't been the one to tell him--it feels like I forced him into it."

"Hey, who'd you end up asking?"

"Alanna. It'll be fun! Seriously, he's gonna have a great time and so are you. He just needed a nudge. Y'know how it is when you're in a funk and you don't wanna go anywhere, and then your friends come along and drag you out and you end up having a good time."

"That was a nudge?" Sam laughed, "I'd hate to see what you call a push or a shove."

"Alanna, huh? She's very nice, plus she's a great fighter, from what I understand from hunting down Drusilla and Darla. I approve."

"I...actually don't know her at all other than from what I've heard. But she said yes. That's gotta be a good sign. And I guess I'll get to know her this weekend. Hey, can you do me a favor?"

"I guess?" After the words were out of her mouth, Sam realized she had to stop agreeing to do things before she knew what they were.

"Can you find out for me what color Alanna's dress is gonna be?" He looked hopeful.
