Oh, praise Jesus, she'd finally found it! Libby felt the most immense sense of relief wash over her when she spotted that large, glittery banner hanging over the waiting area for Fandom High, like a shining beacon, and not a moment too soon! This was the first time she'd ever really been anywhere entirely by herself like this, and it had been incredibly overwhelming. Exciting, yes, but it was a lot to take in! The only thing she could really think to compare it to was when they all packed up to go out to the Wal-Mart for groceries, but even then, she had her whole family with her. And now it was just her and a single suitcase and a pamphlet clutched in her hand, and she thought she'd get lost entirely in such a big place all on her own, but she found it! This was the place!

And she was apparently even a little early, since it looked like she might be the first one there? And even that was a little bit of a relief, because that meant she could just move away from the crowds moving around the airport into the quiet little space under the sparkly banner, have a seat, and just sort of breathe again before the next leg of her journey. An actual high school! Well, a little bit different, she supposed, because it was a boarding school, but as she took her seat, she started to feel that terrible and wonderful nervous turning in her stomach again, and she closed her eyes and she breathed out and she put her hands together to say a little prayer for strength and guidance, and couldn't help smiling a little as she felt a sense of serenity settle her nerves again.

It was scary, being out here by herself like this, but it was also thrilling, and she'd made it this far already, she was halfway there! Now she felt relaxed and ready, opening her eye and looking around for a clock, fussing a little with her long skirt and buttoned-up blouse and wondering if she should have worn more worldly jeans after all, to fit in better, but she didn't need to make herself feel more awkward than she already did with unfamiliar clothes. She just hoped it wouldn't be too much longer for the shuttle to arrive to whisk her away to the next part of this adventure.

Kurt was a little bit annoyed that Scott and the Professor had opted to bring him to the airport themselves, but at the same time he knew it was easier to just take the team's own jet than to try and juggle the ummm delicate task of him traveling anywhere among 'normal' people. It was bad enough that he was walking through the terminal wearing a hoddie pulled up over his head. He knew that was invitation enough for suspicious stare and glances but it was still MUCH better than the alternative at that moment.

He made his way down the seemingly endless terminal hallway, looking for the place he was suppose to go to meet up with everyone else. Mentally he was cursing the fact he had to walk the entire way, but he knew his powers wouldn't work in a situation like this. And he needed to blend in as much as possible, and so he trudged on, a backpack slung over his shoulders and a small suitcase in his hand.

Subconsciously, Kurt kept tugging at the hoodie, trying to keep as much of himself hidden as he could and pulling the sleeves down to cover his hands as much as possible. As he walked on, he thought about what the Professor had said to him before they parted ways just a few minute ago. How this was a big opportunity for him and he wanted Kurt to learn to see the world from a different vantage point... whatever that meant.

And then, just when he thought he might not find it at all, he saw it. The hard-to-miss once-you-saw-it banner for Fandom High. That was where he had been told to go. And so Kurt made his way through the crowds and took a seat, setting the suitcase and bag at his feet, looking around to see if anyone around was also here for the shuttle ride to the school or if they were all just mulling around waiting for rides of their own.

"Well, the adventure begins" he muttered to himself, his Germanic accent quite apparent, as he tried to get comfortable in the seat.

Libby had just been thinking about digging through her suitcase to pull out her prayer book to help fill some of the time before the bus arrived more productively when the boy in the hoodie showed up, and her head tilted cruiously at him as he went to take a seat. There was definitely something in his demeanor and the hoodie in general that was a little standoffish. Perhaps he didn't really want to be bothered, or he was tired from an even longer trip than she had (she'd heard that people came from all over to this school!), but it also seemed a little rude to just ignore him, so she added in a nervous but hopefully open kind of smile as she tried to get better look at him.

"Hello!" she said, her own accent with a particular twang to it as well. "Are you heading on over to Fandom High School, as well?"

"Oh, yeah" Kurt said simply. "Just got in. Wasn't sure how many people to expect to be honest." There was a slight pause before he continued. "I'm Kurt," he said with a slight nod, which caused the hoodie to slip back a bit, revealing his definitely unique features.

Well so much for staying under the radar for a bit longer. Guess this was as good a time as any to test the Professor's theory that Fandom High was going to be a better experience for him than the last school he had just left. He gave a shy smile, trying to keep those intimidating fangs hidden best that he could.

When the hood slipped back, Libby's eyes went wide for a moment before they blinked rapidly a few times. Her hand almost moved to rub them, and she glanced up toward the lighting overhead, because she was pretty sure they were trying to play some sort of trick on her. Because if she wasn't mistaken, Kurt almost looked like he was...

...but that wasn't possible. It must have been...

She realized she was probably staring, or worse, gawking, and he probably thought she was terribly rude and so she shook her head and tried to keep her eyes lowered. "I...my name's Liberty," she offered. "Or Libby...for short. You, um, you have an accent?"

Sure, Libby, that was the thing that was different about him!

But to be fair, she was almost as unfamiliar with different accents as she was with...blue skin!

"Ah. Yes" Kurt said with a slight smile and a curious blink. He wasn't used to people not simply pointing... Or worse. So he gave a slight nod a smile.

"Nice to meet you Libby. And yes, I'm from Germany originally."

Well, now, pointing or worse would be terribly rude of her, wouldn't it? She felt it was bad enough that she was afraid she would just be staring at him the whole time; thankfully, she was used to keeping her head down during times when children should be seen and not heard, and she herself knew all too well how it felt to be stared and pointed whenever the Hazlett brood went out and about and people whispered about their modest clothes and too-many-children like they weren't just religious, but apparently hard-of-hearing as well!

Although Libby was mostly just left wondering if people from Germany actually were blue, because she definitely didn't remember reading about any of that in her social studies and geography lessons! Maybe her mother didn't know that, either, though.

"Germany! So people really do come to this school from all over! Here I thought I was making a big old leap from Tennessee, but you've had a whole ocean to get across!"

"Ah Germany originally. I was at another high school here in the states" Kurt said with a grin.

"What about you? Where are you coming to the school from? Anywhere exciting?" Kurt loved meeting new people. Especially those who didn't seem immediately horrified by his appearance.

Though he knew it would probably change once everything was know. He wouldn't be that lucky would he?

"Oh, no," Libby had to smile at the question as she shoo her head. "Not even a little. I'm from Tennessee."

Not that she didn't love her home deeply, of course, but she wasn't about to act like there was anything particular thrilling about it. Especially not when talking to a blue person from Germany.

"Where did you go to school before this?" she asked. "Anywhere more exciting than Tennesee?"

"I live with a bunch of other people who...who are like me. Special people"Kurt said, always finding it difficult to explain the whole mutant thing at first.

"Those of us who are young enough were sent to a local school in upstate New York. I already spent one year there but... Things were ummm difficult for me there. So my Professor decided it would be best to give Fandom High a try "

Guillermo was intrigued when he spotted the new kid arrive, especially since he seemed to be trying to keep himself hidden.

“Hi,” he figured this might be the only chance he had to talk to new people before everyone realised how uncool he was and it would be like his other school, “I’m Guillermo,”

"Nice to meet you, Guillermo" Kurt said, admittedly stumbling over it a bit with his accent. "I'm Kurt. Nice to meet you" he said with a grin. "You going to Fandom High too?"

“It’s nice to meet you too Kurt,” he grinned back, “yeah I’m going to Fandom High, first time going to boarding school actually,” he admitted.

"This is my second high school" Kurt confessed. "It was a bit... hard for me back there. So the Professor decided Fandom High might be better for me.". Ya know... for reasons. Not the least of which being the obvious skin tone fact.

"Glad i am not the only new guy in the school this semester" he said, giving Guillermo a grin.

“Oh, I can understand that my last school wasn’t…that great either and then I won this scholarship,” even though admittedly his high school experience so far had been more for the fact that the other kids had just considered him to be uncool and had bullied him because of it.

Guillermo wasn’t sure how he had won the scholarship since he hadn’t applied but he wasn’t going to complain about the opportunity. “this is my first time out of New York and everything,” he told Kurt.

He grinned back at that last bit “Same here, I wasn’t sure how many new kids there would be but us new guys have to stick together right?”

It had sounded a lot better in his head, now Kurt was going to think he was just desperate for friends …which okay he was but did he have to be so obvious about it?

Oh there was no need to worry about seeming too desperate there. Kurt was just as surprised to have gotten this far into the conversation already to be honest.

"Definitely. Will be good to have a familiar face in some of these classes at least."

Kurt paused for a moment before continuing. "You said you got a scholarship for Fandom High? That's really cool!"

“Same, I didn’t have a choice in classes since the scholarship was rather specific so I’m not too sure what to expect,” he admitted.

“the scholarship was definitely a surprise,” Guillermo grinned, “I never even applied for it and the acceptance letter turned up and everything …”

Guillermo was a bundle of excitement and nerves as he walked over to where he was supposed to go for the bus to Fandom.

He had one suitcase full of clothes and a duffel bag full of dvds, books and action figures.

“Oh good I’m in the right place,” Guillermo breathed a sigh of relief when he read that glittery banner, he spotted the other girl who was already there.

“Uh hey,” he gave an awkward wave and pushed his glasses back up, “I’m Guillermo,”

He did not have a lot of experiences talking to girls … well to anyone really. He had not exactly been popular at his last school.

There was a very good chance that Guillermo had more experience talking to girls than Libby had talking to boys, actually, with the distinct exception of her brothers, but they hardly counted. And that certainly wasn't going to let that...or anything she'd heard that might not have been flattering about more worldly teenagers, especially boys!...hold her back. He looked nice enough, anyway, and almost as nervous as she felt.

"Oh," she smiled, with a duck of her head, her only consession to her nerves and tucking her long hair behind her ear. "Guillermo?" She had to admit, the name felt a little tricky on her tongue. "Hello. My name's Liberty." There was an uncertain pause before she added, a little sheepishly, "Most people call me Libby, though. It's nice to meet you!"

“It’s nice to meet you too,” he tried not to seem too excited that someone was willingly talking to him who wasn’t Jeremy or his mum.

Well he figured she was being polite, it would probably change by the time they got to the school and she figured out how uncool he was.

“I’ve never been to boarding school before,” he revealed, “actually this is my first time being out of New York,”

"I've never been to a school before," Libby offered with a small smile and a shrug of her shoulder; she figured it wouldn't take people too long to figure out that she was a bit odd, so it would make sense just to come right out the gate with it. "And it's my first time being out of Tennessee, so guess we've already got a few things in common, Guillermo."

And her curiousity sparked a little more as she had to follow it up with, "Is that New York the state, or New York the city?"

“Oh New York City,” Guillermo explained, “I’m from the Bronx,” he added.

“you were home schooled?” he asked, intrigued when she said she had never been to school before, “what was that like?”

"Well," Libby shrugged a little again, with a faint, almost apologetic smile that she didn't have a better answer than this, "it's that only schooling I've had, so, to me, it all seemed normal. I'm the oldest, though, so it's mostly been me helping the Littles with their math and spelling when I finish with my Bible study and my accounting worksheets."

She seemed to hesitate a little bit before she followed it up by turning the question back at him, because now she was really curious; she'd heard plenty of stories from Zo, sure, but going to school in Jackson was probably nothing like going to school in New York City.

"What it like...going to a regular school?"

“It was …” he paused, not really wanting to admit that his other school hadn’t been that great, mostly because he knew that for other people it could be a great experience, “it was okay for school I guess,” he finally settled on.

“Bible study? Oh are you Catholic? That’s like me…I had to do Bible study as well, well that was more because of my mum that I had to but it’s just her and me at home so…” his voice trailed off awkwardly, “uh yeah …mum’s pretty strict but she agreed to let me go to Fandom especially after I won this scholarship to go,”

"Oh, no," said Libby, quickly. "Not Catholic."

Oh, she knew her father was already beside himself with the fact that Libby was going to be going to school with worldly kids; she didn't even want to think of what he might have to say about her going to school with Catholics!

"We're Christian, some people call what we believe in Quiverfull, because we believe that we are brought to this Earth to be arrows in the quivers of God's righteous warriors..."

And she supposed she should have taken this opportunity to explain that to Guillermo more,, but the last few month had made even her start to question some of those previously tightly held beliefs, and, besides, there was honestly something far more interesting to talk about than a religion that had been leaving her confused and full of doubt as of late.

"But you're going here on a scholarship, too?" She was clearly far more interested in that than any righteous warriors right now, holy or otherwise. "To work at the Fandom Clinic?"
