Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

As the day went on, the humidity didn't get much better, but the fall decorations seemed to be holding out. If some of the apples and pumpkins disappeared... well, the wildlife deserved to have a festive day too, right?

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"You should!" Seivarden agreed. "Do you ever go to Baltimore? I know a nice tea house there, nothing like at home, of course, but worth a visit. Oh, and there's even a glove shop."

She had no idea what Tisarwat actually liked, but those were things any Radchaai might appreciate.

"I've found a few tea shops I like," Tisarwat admitted, "but the glove shop would be something new. Perhaps I could make a day of it."

Part of her wanted to doubt that a glove shop around here would have anything even worth her money, but, at the same time, if Seivarden brought it up, it couldn't be that bad.

It was as good as you could expect here, but at least it was something.

"If I'm honest I spend far too much time watching entertainments," she said. "So I should get out of the apartment more. Have you heard from Athoek?"

Not from Breq obviously, but Seivarden knew Tisarwat had a lot of friends.

Tisarwat did have a lot of friends back at that station, and the trip home had allowed her to reconnect with them in a lot of different ways, but, of course, she didn't imagine they were the sort of crowd Seivarden would be terribly invested in keeping up with. Still, she had asked, so, after another sip of her tea, Tisarwat went ahead and regaled her co-lieutenant of some of the more intricate political designs and relationships that seemed to be creating the most buzz around Athoek, both in orbit and planetside, in the expected roundabout ways.

"Everyone seems to be doing well, though," she concluded. "Hopefully, I'll be able to say the same after the next visit, too."

Whenever that ended up being....

Seivarden wasn't that interested in the particular people, no, but she was in keeping up with what was going on on Athoek, so a summary was welcome, and made the always slightly awkward conversation with Tisarwat a bit less so.

"At least there hasn't been a disaster." The implication being without Breq around.

There was a faint sound like a laugh escaping Tisarwat at that.

She almost wished there was a disaster. Maybe then, they could actually go home and stay there.

Her brain (a certain part of it, anyway) ticked a moment with the question of how it wouldn't be too difficult to make a disaster, but, sipping her tea, she decided maybe it was better to just talk about something else before that thought managed to get some legs.

"How are things with your roommates?" she asked. "Summer said something about you having a new one. Then something about a..." What had she called it? "Frat house?"

Completely unaware of what was going on in Tisarwat's brain of course, Seivarden said:

"Yes, Gladio. He's a friend of Ignis' and Prompto's." She paused. "I'm not sure I understand what Summer meant by frat house, other than something about college students of the same gender sharing a house."

And possibly not having sex, but she didn't say that.

"That's sort of what I gathered, too," said Tisarwat, shaking her head a little because it just seemed so...superfluous, really, the way Summer had described it. "But none of them are in college. In fact, aren't they some sort of military? Wouldn't a barracks be a better description? I asked, and she said I just didn't get it."

She shrugged, clearly not too bothered by this fact.

"Sometimes I really don't get what she's talking about," Seivarden said. "Barracks would make much more sense, and it's not like I would mind that."

She had her own room after all.

Tisarwat wasn't even going to start on the things that Summer talked about sometimes that were just downright bewildering, but the fact that both she and Seivarden could agree on that made her grin faintly.

"So I think we stick with the barracks, then," she decided. "Almost like the start of your own Fandom decade. Are there many more of them?"

And exactly how many people could they squeeze into that second bedroom, anyway?

Seivarden was wondering that too.

"At least one?" she said, adding with a laugh: "Not enough for a whole decade, I think."

"No," Tisarwat agreed, "but if it got to that point, I'd be worried you'd have to start taking over some of Lucille's shop downstairs, too."

Maybe they could take the basement of Groovy Tunes! A psuedo-decade should be able to handle a headphones moster pretty easily, she'd imagine.

"Oh, don't worry," Seivarden said. "Her shop is safe. I'd just have to get a bigger apartment."

Would she get a bigger apartment just to fit in more chocobros? Possibly.
