There was enough of Summer's humanity in tact that she wondered, briefly, if what she was about to do in class today would end up being too terrible even for her. After all, shouldn't some things be sacred? Shouldn't some things be left sacred?

And then she remembered Dante's disparaging looks regarding the okonomiyaki in Japan and decided, you know what? No. Some things maybe needed to be bastardized a little just to bring it down a peg or two.

"Morning, everyone!" Summer greeted them all cheerfully from the station at the front of the classroom. "Today's going to be a good one! Today, we're doing a classic staple that everyone," well, honestly, considering the people in her class, she wouldn't be surprised if quite a few of them were actually a little disdainful about most pizza, so the most everyone was implied, "enjoys, a favorite of overworked parents, bribing teachers, and college party-goers alike, and that's pizza!

"Now," she said, turning a little serious for a moment, "I don't want to hear anyone try to pull the 'well, that's not technically pizza because blah blah blah' stuff on me. We're working with mayo and pears and soup for these recipes, technically went out the window the moment we entered the class. Technically pizza, technically sane, technically fit for human consumption? All of them. Gone. Right out the window. So, without further ado, let's get some of these started so we can get them baking and see how they fare in the court of popular taste buds."

“That,” Liam said. “Sounds like a fantastic idea.”

Full offense, Summer, because these were terrible. Though the fact that she was well aware of that meant he didn’t feel too bad about that, honestly.

"At the usual time????????" she checked, happy beyond words to have a family where, like, something as simple as dinner being at the usual time was something she got to be a part of. "I can, like, pick up ingredients if you want?????????"

Honestly, for all the complaining she did about Summer's food choices, Nina loved these classes. It was why she kept taking them.

Liam, meanwhile, was equally pleased at the complete lack of hesitation that accompanied that question.

“That’d be great,” he confirmed. “We wouldn’t want to end up dipping into the mice’s cheese stash,” he added. “They’d never forgive me.”

The food in these classes was ridiculous and Liam would probably never make any of it again, but it was fun. Most of the time.

Progress was slow but real, so long as no attention was drawn to it.

She giggled.

"Maybe I'll pick up some fancy cheese just for them," she mused. "A nice brie???????????? Or, oooooh, smoked mozza?????????"

Which was precisely why Liam didn’t make a big deal of it, as the days of Nina worrying out loud that she was ‘imposing’ weren’t too far behind them.

“I think that would get you a rather impressive song and dance number,” Liam said.

"I do like getting accolades," she admitted, grinning. "Guess I'm going to have to buy them a treat now!!!!!!!!!!!"

She loved the mice. They were awesome.

Honestly, Liam kinda judged anyone who met the mice and didn’t at least like them, let alone love them.

“Oh no,” he deadpanned. “What a terrible fate for everyone involved.”

"Anything you want too???????????" she asked, since if she was buying for her and the mice then...

“You know,” he mused. “Actually, I wouldn’t say no if you happened to find a nice eggplant.” Maybe a little out of the ordinary when it came to pizza toppings, but it wasn’t tuna and pears.

"That I can do," she said, bouncing a little.

Look, she trusted him more than she trusted these pizzas in class.

Sometimes you needed to change things up from the standard peppers and olives!

Though the nice thing about pizza was that was pretty customizable, at least when you were making the more traditional kind. Nina could absolutely skip the eggplant in favor of pepperoni if she so chose.

“Perfect,” he declared.
