Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I
Whatever aspect of the island made sure the weather was nice on picnic day didn't seem to be able to control the temperature. It wasn't freezing, but it would definitely more comfortable out on the lawn with a coat on. Thankfully, the conditions were just right for a bonfire in the center of the lawn, so people could gather and stay warm once they'd made their introductions.
Once the tables and chairs were set up and everything was properly glittered, all that was needed were people!
[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

“Yes! Hello. I am Enola Holmes. Forgive me it’s been a very odd day,” she said, looking around at the various students before returning her attention. “Though I’ve gathered that odd things are quite common here.”

Illyana knew how it felt to be out-of-time. She looked Enola over more closely, taking in her clothing and mannerisims. "Clothes, however, are easier."
Illyana herself was wearing ripped jeans, combat boots, a band shirt made into a midrif top, and a hoodie. "Just keep an eye on people, and tell me what looks interesting to you. I'll take you to the clothing shop next week and we'll get you sorted out."
"But welcome to the future. What do you want to know?"

“Well I meant to come to school here,” Enola explained. “I just did not know time travel was involved. I haven’t even thought about how I might get home. I shall have to dwell on that. As for what I want to know... Well a little more information on this place would be helpful. As well as directions to the local library.”

"Where to start," she said, her Russian accent thickening for a moment as she started counting on her fingers. "First, I too am out of time. I should be seven, according to my family. I am now seventeen. Second, I am a mutant, which means I posses a power that 'normal' humans do not have. In my case, teleportation. Third..."
Illyana leaned in, and with a twist of her fingers, some green fire bloomed across her hand for a moment. "I'm magic."
The rest could wait, she didn't want to break the new kid on the first day.

Enola let out a gasp. Not one of shock and horror but of excitement. “Magic is real?” She exclaimed. “Well. I guess being a girl detective from the 19th century isn’t as out of place as being a mutant magic user who can teleport. Ooo! Can I see you teleport?”

She stuck her arm through her portal, to poke Enola in the shoulder. "Helps for getting things on high shelves. Or for getting from my room to class when it's raining out."
