Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

Whatever aspect of the island made sure the weather was nice on picnic day didn't seem to be able to control the temperature. It wasn't freezing, but it would definitely more comfortable out on the lawn with a coat on. Thankfully, the conditions were just right for a bonfire in the center of the lawn, so people could gather and stay warm once they'd made their introductions.

Once the tables and chairs were set up and everything was properly glittered, all that was needed were people!

[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"Library's up in the school," Illyana said, pointing up to the castle. "As for the rest... Welcome to Fandom. It's a multidimensional nexus point that straddles time and space, so you'll find people here from across multiple timelines, universes, galaxies, the works. No one's here because they're normal."

"Except maybe Alexis and Tahani, but they're a different sort of weird." Uly was cool, so he wasn't 'normal'.

Enola sat there for a moment and then took a sip of tea as she digested that information. “Well. I’m sort of an odd duck. At least in the year 1885. If I may ask, how are you weird?”

Illyana couldn't help it; she started laughing.

"Where to start," she said, her Russian accent thickening for a moment as she started counting on her fingers. "First, I too am out of time. I should be seven, according to my family. I am now seventeen. Second, I am a mutant, which means I posses a power that 'normal' humans do not have. In my case, teleportation. Third..."

Illyana leaned in, and with a twist of her fingers, some green fire bloomed across her hand for a moment. "I'm magic."

The rest could wait, she didn't want to break the new kid on the first day.

Enola let out a gasp. Not one of shock and horror but of excitement. “Magic is real?” She exclaimed. “Well. I guess being a girl detective from the 19th century isn’t as out of place as being a mutant magic user who can teleport. Ooo! Can I see you teleport?”

Illyana winked, and a glowing portal appeared next to her, and another one blinked into being behind Enola.

She stuck her arm through her portal, to poke Enola in the shoulder. "Helps for getting things on high shelves. Or for getting from my room to class when it's raining out."
