Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I
Whatever aspect of the island made sure the weather was nice on picnic day didn't seem to be able to control the temperature. It wasn't freezing, but it would definitely more comfortable out on the lawn with a coat on. Thankfully, the conditions were just right for a bonfire in the center of the lawn, so people could gather and stay warm once they'd made their introductions.
Once the tables and chairs were set up and everything was properly glittered, all that was needed were people!
[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Re: Meet Your Teachers [Spring 2021]
Nina bounced up, beaming.
"Or, like, should I call you Professor January?????????? I try to get people to call me Professor Argentum!!!!!!!!!!"
Spoilers: no one called her that.
Re: Meet Your Teachers [Spring 2021]
NINA. SO MANY PROJECTS.
Re: Meet Your Teachers [Spring 2021]
"I can never be too busy," she said brightly. Also, when she was busy she didn't have time to be lonely or moody or go on terrible anxiety spirals about people not liking her! "And, like, it means I'm the school's only student-teacher for the second year in a row!!!!!!!!!!"
And that... that mattered, Nina?
"Besides, this class is actually, like, way less work than the ones I taught before," she admitted.
Re: Meet Your Teachers [Spring 2021]
She felt like Nina was probably the only something a lot of the time.

Re: Meet Your Teachers [Spring 2021]
Please say it was easier. Or faster. Patience was a lot of Annie's problem in a kitchen.
Re: Meet Your Teachers [Spring 2021]
Oh yes.
Nina's world's cooking was... special.
"And yes," she added, since she knew how this went, "it's actually lasagna, with noodles and tomato sauce and everything, instead of eggs and a bunch of cooked peppers!!!!!!!!!!"
Re: Meet Your Teachers [Spring 2021]
There was usually so much measuring! And precision!
Re: Meet Your Teachers [Spring 2021]
Grocery bills were much lower cooking Nina's way.

Re: Meet Your Teachers [Spring 2021]
In Nina's world, things were preserved by smoking them or canning them or salting them. Not... all of the weird things with names she couldn't pronounce.
"A loaf of bread shouldn't last for two weeks out on the counter," she said, a bit plaintively. "It's just wrong.........."
Re: Meet Your Teachers [Spring 2021]
And Annie's world was even worse, considering that Vought was in charge of a lot of commercial crops!
"I try not to eat anything I can't pronounce," she added, "with, like, exceptions for doughnuts 'cause I'm not going to like, interrogate the bakers about what's in their sprinkles or whatever." Plausible deniability, y'all.
Re: Meet Your Teachers [Spring 2021]
Nina shivered dramatically.
"But when I make it myself, like, it's fine!!!!!!!!" Even though none of her cooking made sense! "Homemade, even if it's unhealthy, is a lot healthier than most of what's on the shelf!!!!!! What are some of your favourite dishes???????"
Re: Meet Your Teachers [Spring 2021]
And there were their secret trips to Dunkin' Donuts, of course, which had followed once Annie was too busy on the weekends (and her father was not up for being glared at, not that Annie was aware) for pancakes.
Re: Meet Your Teachers [Spring 2021]
She could work with breakfast foods!
"And cheese is, like, an amazing food group," she agreed. "Like, sure, it's fattening but it's so good and goes with so much!!!!!!!!!"
Re: Meet Your Teachers [Spring 2021]
This is why she wasn't allowed to cook.
"Also, yeah, cheese is like its own food group. It goes with almost everything." Almost.
Re: Meet Your Teachers [Spring 2021]
"There's definitely more to French toast than that," Nina giggled. "Even though, like, if you only see the finished product I can totally see how you got there!!!!!!!"
And now she was getting hungry.
"Now I want pancakes and French toast," she confessed. "And, like, the picnic has a lot, but those aren't usually there!!!!!!!!!!!"

Re: Meet Your Teachers [Spring 2021]
"I might go bother Dad tomorrow," she mused. "He loves cooking, so I'm sure he wouldn't mind........ on the other hand, newbies in the common room......."
Re: Meet Your Teachers [Spring 2021]
Much like how Annie had when she'd first arrived, a scant three months ago. So jaded already.
