Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

Whatever aspect of the island made sure the weather was nice on picnic day didn't seem to be able to control the temperature. It wasn't freezing, but it would definitely more comfortable out on the lawn with a coat on. Thankfully, the conditions were just right for a bonfire in the center of the lawn, so people could gather and stay warm once they'd made their introductions.

Once the tables and chairs were set up and everything was properly glittered, all that was needed were people!

[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

“And you must be Ignis,” Barry said coming forward with a hand for a handshake. “I’m Barry. I’ll be your teaching buddy and guide to the strange little shots how we call a school. Welcome to Fandom.”

"Barry." Ignis nodded, taking the hand with the firm, assured shake of a man who'd known the measure of the gesture for quite some time. "Thank you. I'll admit, this experience will be a new one, but at least I can assure you, your job will be made at least a little easier in the fact that I've already had a bit of a...crash course regarding this place..."

“Oh that’s good,” Barry said letting out a sigh of relief. “Breaking in someone into the weird shit around here might be a time honored tradition around here but I always thought it made for a rough start. At least you got a leg up on the interdimensional bullshit that is Fandom.”

"Indeed." Ignis' tone was mostly dry for this face, with just a touch of amusement and the always present, lingering bewilderment that would exist when one regarded this place with anything more than a passing glance. "Apparently, while I am here, I might even consider myself an alien, a detail that has never failed to amuse my colleague for which I'm to blame for my being here in the first place. I don't suppose you knew him as a student? Prompto Argentum?"

He figured the last name alone would likely spark any indication of interaction with the other Argentum as well, though he couldn't imagine anyone being ever completely free of her wrath on such a small island...

“Prompt I haven’t met,” Barry said with a nod of recognition. “But Nina on the other hand is well known to me. I’ve heard her on the radio and talked during the last island attack.”

And Ignis's smile came with a faint hint of a laugh. "That would be Prompto's sister, and I'm not in the least bit surprised. She's rather good at making herself known."

When she wanted to be, at any rate.

"I believe I probably have her to thank for being here."

Although, honestly, it had been a perfect storm of a few different factor, though he would be surprised if she wasn't ultimately the driving force behind it all.

“Yeah, Nina is quite the force of nature,” Barry said in a way that registered as respect. “I have a feeling if she wants something done we’d all get caught in her wake.”

And to that, could there have been any other response than Ignis making a particularly pointed gesture with his hands to indicate that him even standing there before him now was nothing but an excellent example to the point.

Then he breathed a small laugh, shaking his head.

"But I suppose it could be worse," he allowed.

“Well at least you know about the weird and bad shit about this place,” Barry noted. “Most people don’t get that luxury.”

“Yeah. It’s one of the reasons I came back here. I was a student back in 2015,” Barry said looking over the small body of students. “It’s a little weird being on this side of the desk.”
