One of them had various breakfast foods and beverages because it was fucking Monday morning and who wanted to deal with an 8:00 am class on an empty stomach? The second table had composition notebooks and a bunch of research materials on dinosaurs available.

The final table was off limits and had a sheet draped over it. Behind it was a very large tent.

"Morning. I'm Barry Ween and I was student much like yourself a few years ago," he said cheerfully once everyone had gathered. "So you're probably either an old hand at this or totally freaked out by now. My advice? Embrace the weird and your life will get a lot easier for you. Welcome to Fuck Yeah! Science! The whole point here is to have fun and make sure you learn something as well."

"Normally the first class is all about introductions. But fuck that. I'm turning all you motherfuckers into dinosaurs."

So for him? It was to the table where he started working on a deliberately bad essay on dinosaurs.

Mae trundled over in all her dino glory.

"How could you NOT want to be dinosaur??"

Miles did not expect that.

"Uh. I'm new? And this is just-"

He waved at his fellow students wandering around as dinosaurs.

"Yeah. I'm not ready for this yet."

"You're one of those people who stands on the stairs at the pool, aren't you," Mae said.

She was so sad for you, Miles. So sad.

"Hey! I jump into pools," Miles said defiantly. "You know. After I get adjusted to the temperature and everything."

"Uh huh." That club tail was swinging around a bit dangerously. Not out of malice, just because Mae didn't know how to keep track of an extra limb. "Whelp. Have fun not being a dinosaaauuuuur!"

"Yeah."

Was there a bit of regret there? Absolutely. But this was way to much for Miles on his first day of school, let alone his first class.

Wei Wuxian sat down next to Miles and leaned over. "Hey," he whispered. "What's a dinosaur? I mean, I guess I'll see... but what are they?"

"Dinosaurs? Oh. Yeah, uh They're liked giant reptiles that lived a looooong time ago. Like, millions of years go," Miles said at first reaching for a book and then thought better of it and reached for his phone. "Here," he said, holding up the screen of his phone. "This is from a movie but you'll get the idea."

Wei Wuxian hated not having all the answers, and now it seemed he didn't even know the questions. He watched the screen, fascinated. The artists here were very dedicated. Nie Huaisang had a couple of flipbooks in his collection of picture books. He wondered - merely out of curiosity - if there were picture books in this style as well.

But he put that thought aside and focused on committing everything to memory. "Thank you," he said, when it was finished. "Where can I get a movie like this?" He tapped a finger on the top of the device. He clearly needed to learn a lot of information and one of those could help.

"Movie? Oh. Sorry, man," Miles said holding up the phone. "What you saw on this was a movie. This is smart phone. You can call people, sent them messages, watch movies, all sorts of stuff. You typically can buy some of them at a convenience store. I think there's one in town. Though for this to work you have to pay a monthly fee so you can access stuff on the internet which is-"

Geez.

"Like a electronic library filled with pretty much everything."

Yeah, he definitely needed one of those. "Thank you!" he said. He put his hands together in front of himself and dipped his head in a quick bow.

"Oh. Sure," he said trying his best to imitate the bow. "No problem. Happy to help, actually."
