"So last week didn't go the way I thought," Jaye admitted when class started. "I got your excuses about getting out of class, said you're get a ditch day, and I kind of figured no one would show up. That's on me. But it means we're going to work on excuses again.

"We're going to watch a boring educational film about puberty from the 60s," she said. "Your job is to give me a reason as to why you need to leave class suddenly. If it's believable, you get to leave early, hopefully before we get to what served as an old timey explanation of menstruation."

Wayne was the sort to still come to class even with an excuse, but Wayne was also the sort that never wished to be exposed to a video.of this kind ever in his life, if he could help it, not to mention as the only guy in a room full'a girls.

Which was why he took a moment, checked his phone, and then bolted squarely to his feet.

"Welp," he said. "Roommate's just turned back from bein' a...fox," he had no idea what kind of animal Okuyasu would have turned into, "an' he's locked outta the room without any clothes on, so I guess I'd best go help him."

Look! He was evolving his excuses to fit this weird ass school! That had to be worth some points!

"That's definitely something you should take care of right away," Jaye agreed.

She was sort of wondering if he'd actually leave.

For this? Wayne couldn't leave fast enough.

Well, no, that wasn't true. He definitely could have left faster, because he jus' going to keep his cool and make it not lookike he felt like he couldn't leave fast enough. A grateful nod of his head, a sharp turn on his heels, and he ambled on outta there with his thumbs in his belt loops like tjere weren't hardly any rush at all.

He'd breathe again once he was well on the way to certain freedom.

"I'm sorry super powered truant officer," Eleanor said handing off a written letter of excuse to skip the movie. "My mother is very religious and forbids me from learning any kind of stuff about male or female bodies. Puberty knowledge is only something I can learn from my pastor after I get married to my cousin or something."

The excuse letter is very realistic as Eleanor had to forge that shirt all the time because her parents never signed anything.

Eleanor looked at Jaye dead in the eye... and then in a full panic stuffed the note in her mouth.

"For the record I'm eating this out of protection of my religious freedom."

Or at least that's what she tried to say with her mouth full.

"You may force me to watch old films," Eleanor declared with her mouth full but in a tone that would make William Wallace proud. "But you will never take away my freedom!"

And then humming the Battle Hymn of the Republic, headed toward the door.

Tahani came skittering over with her sweater around her waist for realism. "This movie must have set off something," she said, eyes wide, "but my very special blossom of womanhood has opened as well!"

Pause for effect.

"And I must go home and change immediately."
