There was a catwalk set up in the center of the park today. Were you worried? Because you should be worried.

"In an effort to appease all of the animals on the island so they don't invade the next graduation," Anakin said, glaring at the representatives of said wildlife, "everyone, not just gremlins, will be a part of our fashion show."

He gestured at the tables full of fabric, yarn, cardboard, flowers, and other objects that could be turned into outfits if you squinted and tried really hard and were also trying to dress an alot. "You must make cohesive outfits for your animal based around a theme that each team will be given as their name."

The ugly t-shirt shipment had been delayed this week, unfortunately.

"You have several ~~handwavey~~ hours to get this finished and then we will all enjoy the outfits."

Well. Anakin would enjoy the outfits.

Mae had handful of food on sticks, and was sitting perched somewhere implausible with them, kicking her legs and pretending her stick-food was a set of claws.

"Hey, where'd you get those?" Because everyone knew food on a stick was the best kind of food.

Mae looked around for the food vendor she'd gotten her stick-food from, and pointed.

"But, um. Don't tell him."

She had definitely snatched her stick food without paying.

"Nice," Magnus said with a nod of approval. "Nice."

He was a terrible adult influence. It was the rogue part of him that did it.

Terrible adult influences were Mae's favorite kind.

"I'm Mae," she said, waving her stick food.

"Magnus Burnsides," he said in that gruff Errol Flynn voice he did when he remembered character voices. Look, it was hard when no one was yelling at you about it. "Good to meet you!"

Magnus talking like this whole thing was a game was going to eventually start to mess with Mae's sneaking suspicion that this was all just a game.

Eventually.

"You too." Mae hopped down and offered him a stick. "Mac and cheese?"

"Heck yeah!"

This was all just a game, though. Time was a construct and they were just free-styling here. It's all jazz, baby!

"Man, we should have more food on a stick around here."

"We should!" Mae agreed. "Then we can pretend the skewers are tiny swords when we're done eating."

"But I've got real swords," Magnus said, totally chowing down on that food on a stick.

"Lucky," Mae said. "These are a little less likely to make your friends dead, though."

"...yeah, that's fair," Magnus admitted. "We don't even have a good healer around. Not that I ever did before now, but. Ya know."

"I think there's a clinic?" Mae suggested. "I haven't actually been there, though."

"We do? Wow, there's a lot of places I haven't been to," he admitted with a little frown.

"You should try running around on the roofs. Only way to really see a town."

"I should!" Magnus said like that was the greatest idea he'd heard all week. "I need to get my DEX up for some sick maneuvers. Thanks for the idea... Mae? It's Mae, right? I'm really bad at remembering names sometimes."

But he wanted to be nice to the Twitter user who tweeted about the show. Word of mouth was the best form of advertising after all.

"Yup, it's Mae." She kicked her feet against her perch again. "I like your costume."

"Why, thank you. I got my shoes off a dead guy." He felt she'd appreciate that.

"COOOOOL!" Mae cheered. "Everyone should wear more costumes."

"You know what? They should," Magnus said as an idea struck. "We should have a Midsummer Solstice party! It's like Halloween, but cooler. Way more deep fried foods for one."

His canon made its own rules.

Mae's (already very large) eyes went huge.

"That is the greatest idea I have ever heard."

"It'll be great! We just gotta con someone into cooking or something. And put up flyers."

He vastly underestimated how to plan a party, but okay.

"Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah," Mae said, nodding rapidly. "I don't know how to do any of that."

"Man, we gotta work on your skills."

"Probably," Mae agreed. "I guess I could . . . draw something? For fliers?"
