Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

Other places might have been expecting a cold front wtf polar vortex, but the weather in Fandom was just right for welcoming in new people. The bonfire was mostly going for decoration, but there were also the makings for s'mores among the food offerings.

Mmmm, summer food.

The food was ready, the tables and chairs had been spread across the lawn with just the right amount of glitter on them, and everything was ready to welcome a new batch of folks to the island!

[OCD is coming! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

And she hadn't even mentioned cooking it in a wok and a stew pot yet!

"Like, I don't think you're signed up for my class????????????????? But you can always peek in and see it in action!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"I may have to do that." He was also absolutely seeing where the 'black magic' part of that class title came from. "'Cause I'm pretty sure french toast is made from, you know, toast. And eggs. And . . . yeah, maybe a little sugar."

"I mean, like, if I used eggs then I'd wind up with a totally different dish," she said shrugged. "One egg and I can make pudding, two eggs and I can make an entire cake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

The ability to make six cakes for the cost of a dozen eggs was pretty impressive, wasn't it?

"I am pretty sure not everyone can bake a cake without using flour." He frowned and tilted his head, because flourless baking was a thing. "Or at least without using more than eggs."

"Everyone back home can, if they're taught," she said thoughtfully. "Like, I guess it's weird here but, really, we've got magic back home and none of it is used in cooking??????????????"

"Maybe it's just . . . an every day magic," Duke said. "We've got weird things back home that no one's been taught to do. Not quite on the same level as that, though."

Her cooking did not actually sound at all like a trouble, but it was the best Duke could do comparison-wise.
