It was't so much that Alexis wanted to go back to school, it was just that her options to bounce around a bit had dried up for the moment, and she should probably at least check this place out? She hadn't gotten to see much of it aside from the volcano and all, and very little of the area outside, so why not hang out for a while?

She'd amassed a lot of bags around her: on the floor, the seats next to her. A throne of luggage, of sorts. She was already a little bored waiting, wondering who else would show up, and how much glitter had gone into the giant "FANDOM HIGH" sign that was hanging.

...and how that glitter had already gotten on her designer luggage, which she was now trying to pick off with an, "Ew."

The students probably heard the bus way before it arrived and definitely noticed it in all of its lightbrite-esque glory.

(And yes, it was definitely pulsing to the beat because everything hated Anakin.)

And he'd really, really tried to knock it off as he drove to the airport.

Something about that music sounded oddly meta familiar to Freya, which was somewhat comforting, as so much about this was so, so strange.

The lights, however, were something else. Not even the most flamboyant and obnoxious theater ship would go that far!

But what was one more strange thing? Being sure to remember to duck her head to not hit her hat, Freya handed over a small slip of paper to the shuttle driver as she stepped up.

"Here's my ticket."

Yes, Anakin. She had a ticket, for some reason.

"Yes," said Freya, still holding it out, with maybe just a little silent nudge in the air that he take it from her. It looked rather quaint and old fashioned and had the words Fandom High: Admit One printed neatly on it in a sort of box-office font. "It was given to me by the attendant at the Business District station, right before I arrived," somehow, mysteriously, "at this station. I can only assume it's for the shuttle to the island..."

Her one visible eye roamed dubiously at the bus, then almost worriedly back to the driver.

"Is this the shuttle to the island?"

"Unfortunately, yes," Anakin sighed. "It's not generally this...blinky and loud."

Alara was trying really hard to not stare at the bus, which was a combination of the fact that she'd never seen one before and also because of all the lights.

She blinked, "is this normal transport on Earth?"

"The wheels yes, the lights and music, definitely not," Anakin said.

"Oh," Alara blinked, still staring, "I didn't realize Earth still had ground vehicles for transport,"

Alara hadn't yet made the connection that she wasn't in the 25th Century anymore.

Most dragons would have immediately attempted to flame roast Anakin for daring to speak to them with that kind of attitude.

...Julius was immediately heading for the bus door, because wow. Did not want to argue.

Except wait, maybe he should offer to help with luggage?

"I'll get the luggage," Anakin said with a tiny smile. "Just get on the bus."

"I can do that," Julius said, nodding.

He didn't even blink at the bus. If anything, it had actually put him at ease. The last of his growing concern that this was a trap set by another clan vanished. If there was any draconic trait even more universal than their love of plotting, it was snobbery. No dragon, no matter how cheap or desperate, would be caught dead using a human who drove a vehicle like this. With that settled, though, there was only one question left. Why had Bob set him up with this school?

That relaxation lasted until he was firmly inside the bus and could see the driver's area. There was no sign of even a rudimentary AI or autonav system. "Is this a manual?" he asked.

They were going to die.
