Library is Open, 4/5

Zero opened up the library, as was usual for her on Wednesdays, and briefly disappeared into the stacks looking for something to occupy her time. She returned with The Pearl Blade, the third in the "Jewels of the Caribbean" series by Angelica Demesnes, her new favorite author.

"Never really got into whining," Angel admitted. "Too Anne Rice, you know?"

Rory nodded solemnly. "Works for me, though, as I am wee and pale and all."

"Ah, see, being pale I'm very good at," Angel said. "Lotta practice there."

"Yeah?" Rory asked, cracking a tiny smile. "You know, they have those spray-on tan things now."

"Yeah, but orange isn't a good color for me."

Rory paused.

"I think it's good that you stay pale," she said seriously.

Angel gave a wry grin. "Really don't want to see me in shorts?"

"Do you want me to want to see you in shorts?" she replied, wrinkling her nose a little.

"Not really," Angel admitted. "I'm not much of a shorts guy. Don't have the knees for it."

"Ain't that the truth?" Angel sighed. He gave her a look. "You gonna be okay?"

"I'll be fine," she assured him. "Seriously. Big girl, been through this before."

"Call me if you need anything," Angel said. He got up to go because his player had to go to bed

Angel left.

Once his back was turned to Rory though, his face looked much more grim and serious.
