Bad Ass Bitch Life Lessons; Wednesday, First Period [03/25].

Rosa was not going to talk about how she just didn't show up for class last week. If anyone asked, Rosa still wasn't going to say anything about it, besides just staring at whoever asked and asking 'what class'?

She was going to get right into it this week, though. "Alright," she said, flicking the button on the projector, "let's see what nugget of wisdom we're working with this week."

When you're feeling stressed out,
it helps to make a nice hot cup of tea
and spill it on the lap of whoever's bugging you.

"Heh."

Oh, there was a lot of experience packed into that one little sound. Could that even have been a smile on Rosa's face?

"Okay," she said, turning to the class, "this one's actually good. Legit advice right there, but I guess even a broken clock is right twice a day, right? So. Let's talk stress relief. If you've never actually poured a cup of hot tea into an annoying person's lap before, I highly recommend it. It's very cathartic, and it's a easy to make it look like an accident, too."

Rosa never made it look like an accident.

"It is a pain to clean up, though," she added, "and can sometimes be a waste of perfectly good tea, and then sometimes HR gets involved or they insist you owe them for medical bills, even though it's just a second degree burn, suck it up, princess. But it, like punching, unfortunately, sometimes isn't always an option. So let's consider and discuss or whatever, since this is technically supposed to be a 'class'....what are some other bad ass ways of relieving a little stress, especially when dealing with an annoying coworker or classmate or sibling or parent or..."

She trailed off a little, as she realized that this list could have gone on and on and on...

Maybe if you're quick enough, you could even grab photographic evidence that Rosa Diaz is in fact capable of smiling.

What are some other ideas of dealing with stress and annoying people? Maybe Rosa will even write them up on the board, like a real class!, though likely under the headings of STUPID and NOT AS STUPID.

"Like, pretending you don't speak their language is always fun????????????????" Nina offered. "Especially if they know for a fact you do but you persist in your sudden and total inability to understand them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

First a visible smile and now Rosa even looked a little impressed?

If it weren't for the topic at hand, she wouldn't be surprised if anyone started to think she was some sort of pod person or gremlin-bit.

"That's one of my absolute favorite things to do when I go to a Spanish-speaking country," she admitted. "But you're right. It takes on a whole new level when you pull it off on someone who you've had whole ass conversations with in that language before. Nice choice, Punctuation."

The question wasn't really if Wayne was squinting at Nina. If Wayne and Nina were in the same room together, there was a pretty good chance that Wayne was going to be squinting at Nina, that was just a fact.

The question was whether or not Wayne was squinting at Nina more than usual in class that day.

But all signs seemed to be pointing distinctly at yes.

And did she notice that? Absolutely!

Nina could even hazard a guess at why.

That wasn't going to stop her from looking at him innocently.

"Something wrong, Wayne??????????????????????"

"Don't know, Nina," Wayne drawled, easy as could be. "You tell me."

Squiiiint.

"Is there?"

“Hmmmmmmmmmmmm...........”

Nina tapped her cheek thoughtfully.

“I don’t think so???????????????????”

"Well, then," said Wayne, with the sort of dismissive nod that seemed to contradict the squint, "why the fuss?"

He, after all, had just been squinting....

This was doing absolutely nothing to help quell the particularly suspicious nature of said squint, though.

"You started it," Nina accused.

And, in this case, he really sort of had!

"Did I, though?" asked Wayne, his head tilting in what was his own approximation of innocence, which didn't work well with the stern expression. "All's I know is that someone started something, and I'm just trying to see if I can figgur out who."

And it was much easier squinting at Nina a few desks over than it was squinting at Katy in a whole 'nother country.

"Well, like, it wasn't me," she protested. "I wasn't the one being all squiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiint at me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"Okay, then, Nina," said Wayne. "Nina, okay. You answer me this one question, then, and I'll go ahead and direct my squinting elsewhere."

But he was clearly giving her the biggest squint of them all now while he could.

"Did you," he asked, "or did you not...know about my birthday before your radio broadcast this very morning?"

Nina blinked at him.

"Huuuuuuuuh???????????????" she said, totally taking a page from this class, actually, so that worked out well. "Like, what????????????????? I can't understand you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Nina.

"I said," said Wayne, who then lifted his voice to a very loud volume, in very much the same tone he used when trying to call his pups or the cattle back home, "did you or did you not...know about my birthday before your radio broadcast this very morning?"

Their teacher, for the record, was sort of just sitting back and wishing she did have a cup of tea to sip on while watching this, because this? This was hilarious.

And Nina put on a pretense of struggling to understand him, hemming and hawing, and mouthing the words.

"Sorry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" she said, sounding contrite. "I don't get it???????????????????????????????????"

That squint turned into a certified glare, a low growl emitting from deep in Wayne's chest.

"Birthday, Nina!" he stated in a near-shout. "Did you know it?"

Really, she had known it, but yelling at Nina was basically never going to get a straight answer out of her.

"I think you're being very rude right now," Nina said cheerfully, in Ryl, which she knew Wayne had no possible way of knowing. Now, Sidon on the other hand... "And I have absolutely no intentions of telling you what I have planned for your birthday."

One more prolonged glare-and-growl, and Wayne, arms folded in front of him stubbornly, turned his head.

"Well," he said. Loudly. "Of yer just gonna be spare parts, Nina, I guess I'll have to save my thanks for someone else."

"No, you'll save your thanks for much later this week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" she said, still in Ryl.

And, for good measure, she stuck her tongue out at him.

Then grinned over at Detective Diaz.

Well, since there was no point in arguing with spare parts, Wayne was just going to have to give Nina one last squinty glare in return for that stuck-out tongue (and the grin at the teacher that followed it, too!), and settle back in his chair (marginally) to glower a bit (not sulk!) and figgur that if that was going to be the way she was going to be, then even if she did tell Shuri about his birthday, then she didn't need to thanks he was going to give her for it since it'd actually wound up being one of the best birthdays he'd ever had, just standing around with cupcakes and speculating about future rhinoceros ranches with his pert'near perfect girlfriend.

Okay, well, truth be told, he still did want to thank her if she was the one to tell Shuri, because it was just polite and the right things to do, but not if she was going to be like that! But now it was going to be like a stray hair in his asscrack all day...

While she's clearly in a very good mood.

Ahhh, memories.

I mean, she literally has an icon for this, soooo.....
