Advanced Journalism (Tuesday, April 4 - 2nd period)

"Good morning," Rita said, looking very, very hungover. "Today I'd like you to start assembling a list of questions to ask your interviewees for your final. You may also spend the time thinking about who you're interviewing, if you haven't decided."

"How very polite of her. Take a cookie, John. Make your friend happy.

John tries to ignore the thing. "Give it to Professor Skeeter. She's put on weight in the hips recently."

And he might back away more, edging closer to the back of the room.

"Why don't you?" Rory suggested, looking concerned. "Um. Or am I not following today's thing correctly?"

Scorpius tsk's him. "Refusing a courteous gesture. So unlike you, John.

"Shut up!" John shouts, pointing at the air. "I'm the nicest guy around!"

"Your professor does not seem to think so."

"Professor Skeeter is a clueless old fossil."

Oh, oops.

Rita sighed and lazily pointed her wand at him.

"Enjoy your time as a zebra."

Of course, he was a very wee zebra. She had learned her lesson, and had shrunk him down to the size of a small dog.

John was almost glad to be a zebra. He thought Scorpius would go away but, as soon as he was finished being shrunk, he looked up...and Scorpius was still there.

"This is what you do in your spare time? Very odd."

John gallops as far away as he can.

Rory scurried after him to offer the wee zebra a cookie.

John hides somewhere dark, where he can't see anything. He closes his eyes and just hides.

"John, I need to send Aeryn a picture. Come out."

John refuses.

"Oh, a picture. Should I be in it?"

John refuses again.

Rory doesn't speak Zebra, so she does not know that he is refusing.

"Come on, Aeryn will be sad."

Still refusing.

"Officer Sun enjoys pictures of you as an animal? How very amusing. Perhaps I will enjoy viewing this collection later."

That actually makes John angry and he makes an angry zebra sound. But still doesn't come out.

Rory lowered her voice. "You can't annoy Professor Skeeter back there. Come on."

John tries to shake his head.

"Yes, come out and play," the voice taunts smoothly.

No. John stays put.

And Rory? Starting to get worried.

"John? Honey? Do you want me to get someone?"

Hard to tell her anything when he's a zebra. Rita Skeeter really is a vapid, old broad.

So, trying to get some kind of attention, he pokes his head out slightly.

"My. Aren't you cute."

He resists the urge to go back and hide.

Rory took a picture with her phone, sent it to Aeryn, and offered the zebra a cookie.

John immediately goes back to his hiding place.

Chloe frowns at John, and at Rory. "Come on John, come out and you can have a yummy cookie."

"Your friends certainly have a certain love of cookies."

John, deciding enough was enough, shot out from his hiding spot and went to hide under Rita's robes.

"Ah, now that's more like it. Go to your cuddlebunny!" Chloe grins.

Rita stood up. "Get away, Mr. Crichton."

John clings to Rita's leg, wanting to be a boy again.

Rita attempted to pry him off her leg.

This was one time, just this once, that John needed Rita to user her powers and change him back so he could run like hell outta the classroom.

And, since she's Rita and mean like that, she said, "I think I'll keep you this way."
