Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

The weather was warm, the food smelled good, and there was a good chance the new folks were a little extra glittery. What else could go into a perfect day for the picnic?

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"Good afternoon," Lana said, waving as she sat down across from her. "How have you been?"

"Middling to okay," Sabine said, considering it. Mostly she'd been antisocial. "Haven't seen you in a while, hi."

She'd take full blame for that, too, with the antisocialness.

"Luckily I skipped out on the last week of awfulness," Lana said. "Other than that, I've just been enjoying the time off, reading in the library mostly. Did you ever get my message about leaving before that last week?" she asked. "Norman did, but Nina didn't, and I'm wondering if there's a problem with my phone."

"I got it, but I didn't see it until after everything. Really wish I had..."

Because that week had been terrible and she would like to have skipped it.

"I heard it was pretty bad," Lana said. "Hopefully it will settle down now that summer is over?"

"It's been a lot calmer," Sabine admitted. "I don't mind a breather between this and the next time the island, or something on the island, or something coming to the island, wants us dead."

"A breather is lovely," Lana agreed. "I was telling Kanan, I hadn't been anywhere deadlier than Korriban before this summer, and I was fine with that, honestly."

"I would have been fine with it if it had just ended and we went back to normal life," Sabine mused. "That last week was not okay."

"I'm glad I missed it, if sorry I wasn't there to help. But at least we seem to be back to normal now?" Lana said. "Well, as normal as this place gets."

"Yeah." And Sabine had not appreciated any insinuations that things were not normal. "I figure we have at least a couple months until the next disaster."

"Hopefully," Lana said. "And meanwhile, we have classes, which should be fun. Which are you taking?"

"Terrain and You, Ethics, and Physical Education. I'm trying to keep it lighter, just in case." Between weird crises and work and potential trips to some version of home... "What about you?"

"I'll see you in 'Terrain and You' and 'Ethics'," Lana said, smiling. "Also the 'bad-ass bitch' class, law enforcement, and civics. I thought I could learn more about Earth that way."

"You'll have to let me know if they do the heist again this year," Sabine said. "I was tempted to jump in on that again but I kind of like relishing my title instead of defending it."

Lana laughed. "Maybe I'll use the reigning champion as a resource if I need help."

"That's what friends are for," Sabine smiled.

"Glad to hear it." Lana smiled.

"Maybe now that the island's settled back, we can go back to exploring the mainland."

"I'd be up for that. Got anywhere in particular in mind?"

And if not, it'd been a while since they'd done this anyway.

"I'd have to look again to remember what there is," Lana confessed. "Except for that space museum; that place was a riot."

"I forgot about that place," Sabine admitted, smiling. "I mostly remember the art museums I meant to see."

"Art museums and libraries?" Lana suggested, grinning. "I wonder if there are places that are both."

Neeeerds.

"There's got to be something here. So I see we have some research to do."

Such nerds!

"Apparently so." Lana grinned. "I'm good at research."
