"And put your feet up in the air so I may rest a bucket on them!"

"The first team to remove all of the socks from their feet without dropping the contents of the bucket on themselves wins!"

"Now there'd be a sight." Fjord was still a little out of sorts, but hell, he could appreciate a little good-natured mocking of the man responsible for this fresh Wednesday hell they were trapped in any day. "You gonna make that a spectator sport?"

No. He'd followed more or less all of it.
"Might have to get the underwear custom-made."
Having the dean's face on your boxers seemed like an oddly specific thing to find on the internet.

It was a good distraction from how he was wearing his sword on his back this week instead of summoning it from the briny deep.

She noticed the sword on his back but in fairness, the island's bullshit lately had most everyone she knew wearing weapons more openly than their usual.

Jack threw her thumb over her shoulder in the direction of ickle. "Kanan Jarrus. My ickle bickle widdwle sibwing."

She grinned. "Who probably just cringed, looked around and glared at the back of my head." She looked around and gave him a sunny smile and a wave. Hi Kanan! Hiiii!

Kanan, for his part, just kind of rolled his eyes, smiled tolerantly, and then returned to whatever diatribe he was tapping out on his phone.
Fjord looked faintly bewildered.
"Right. I can definitely.... see the family resemblance?"

"We're adopted," Jack shrugged, "It happens. Kaidan's another one. Ain't nothin' similar except maybe the hair and the skin tone. When I got hair, which I try not to do."

He had complicated feelings about that sort of thing, himself. He wasn't going to press.

"Think I want to look like either of those pretty bitches?" Jack snorted and swung her head from side to side, "Hell no. I like my face. It says 'get out of my way' even without I actually say it out loud."

"Eh, it could be worse," Jack agreed, "I ain't got the height, gotta have some way to make people get out of my way." She really wasn't all that tall, especially compared to a half-orc. Who might be a runt of an orc but wasn't exactly puny compared to humans.

"You strike me as the sort who has no problems picking up and moving people who won't get out of your way," Fjord pointed out, smiling wryly. "Height or none."
Really. He was so tiny compared to most half-orcs. Which was a big fun mess of self-esteem issues all on its own.

"Biotics help with that part, yeah," Jack agreed easily, "That and training with people bigger than me. Learning how to take advantage of someone else's center of gravity may have been the most useful thing I ever learned in my life."

He'd always been bigger than the other kids. But... right now, with nothing else going for him, it seemed as though the more he had in his arsenal, the better.
