The normal bleachers and food vendors were set up in the park today, along with big screen projector screens, if that gave anyone else a bad feeling. You could watch portals flash in and out in real time! How fun/terrifying!

"Today we're going on a scavenger hunt," Anakin announced because that was a good idea on a week when reality was playing fast and loose. "You will be divided up into four teams of six--" with, of course, newly terrible matching shirts, "and will have to complete ten different tasks!"

That ten didn't divide evenly into six was your problem, teams, not Anakin's.

He waved the copies of the scavenger hunt above his head. "After you hear your names, I will pass out the lists!"

Aeryn was staring in horror at the shirt's face.

"Can't lose something you never had," said Rosa, from the shadowy depths of a trench coat and fedora fitting to her detective title, her voice dark and moody to fit the theme. "Some say he had it, once, sanity, that it was driven away from him by the endless cycle of having to provide interesting but unappealing shirts for these summer activities, but I don't believe of it. A man like that?" She jerked a chin his way. "You can just tell, he was born into madness."

Aeryn didn't really know Rosa, but she respected her based on her clothing choices.

But now she was left with, "Yeah, probably," because how else was a best friend supposed to respond to that?

Sparkle squinted as his shirt.

And then squinted at the other shirts.

And then squinted, again, at his own shirt.

"... I mean, at least we're not doing our best impression of Slim Goodbody over there."

The muscles were creepy aaaaaas fuck.

"It could be worse," Hera agreed. "Who's Slim Goodbody?"

That was totally a normal GFFA name.

"Basically the most horrifying mistake children's entertainment ever made," Sparkle shared. "Take a normal-looking human dude, stick him in skintight clothing, and then paint internal organs all over it. You know. Because it's educational."

"So is a holo," Hera pointed out. "That just sounds disturbing. Who thought it was a good idea?"

Sparkle shrugged.

"It was the seventies. He was probably doing drugs."

Sparkle's best understanding of Captain Kangaroo was that it went best with drugs anyway.

Sparkle was not wrong.

"And people agreed with him? I feel sorry for this place's children now."

And she was from Ryloth.

"You know, between you and me? So do I."

Sparkle's childhood had been... bad.

Hera winced. "Well, enough of that, anyway. Our shirts aren't too bad. Not as colorful as some of the others, but at least white's not likely to clash with anybody's skin."
