Camp Shenanigans, Wednesday, June 12, 2019

Given the terrible, pounding headache of a bad feeling that this location was giving Anakin, he almost cancelled the shenanigans for the week. But then he decided that if people were really looking for a distraction, he should provide it.

Today's shenanigans were being held in the school auditoriam--Anakin would grant townies temporary access to the school building in order to keep the students from wandering further from the dorms than absolutely necessary--and seemed to be revolving around several thousand ballpit balls in the center of the auditorium.

And laundry baskets.

And scooters.

"Welcome to Sentient Lifeform Hungry Hungry Hippos!" Anakin yelled through his megaphone. "Everyone will be divided into four teams. You will then pair up into beings on their stomach holding the laundry baskets and people pushing them by their legs. Every team will cycle through all of their players. The team with the most balls at the end wins! Come pick up your t-shirts!"

Because of course there were t-shirts.

Seriously, olive was what he wore on a typical day anyway. This week, he was doing just fine.

Kanan opened his mouth. Paused a moment. Shut his mouth again. And then shrugged.

"Okay," he said, picking up the laundry basket and making sure he was good and situated. "Let's do this."

... Ball grabbing.

Not dirty, unless Kanan fell off the scooter and grabbed something very wrong.

"Okay, just like a three legged race but on wheels," Paris muttered, grabbing Kanan's ankles and shoving.

"With a laundry basket, racing to gather balls," Kanan agreed, hefting the basket up and swinging it out to try to catch a bunch of those. "At least it's straightforward."

Convoluted. But straightforward at the same time.

"Right," Paris said. "It's a kids game with hippos, normally."

Beat.

"Plastic ones, not live ones." She stopped moving. "He's not going to bring out live ones, is he?"

It was a reasonable question, really.

Even if Kanan had no damn clue what a hippo was. He looked back over his shoulder with a raised eyebrow.

"Note to self," Kanan mused, "see if that's a real website, and then fill his office with as much from there as I can possibly afford."

Because clearly what Anakin needed was a small army of wind-up monkeys playing the cymbals.
