Even Anakin wasn't going to invite the entire town to stand outside in radiation and next to a bomb just for a day of competition (though yes, he had considered in for a hot minute). Today's event was being held in the community center and the flickering lights and general malaise just kind of added to what would be the world's weirdest fashion show.

Because, yes, there was a catwalk set up down the center, currently being sat upon by a small herd (committee? Murder?) of gremlins.

"Today we will reprise last year's highly popular gremlin fashion show," Anakin yelled into the completely unnecessary bullhorn.

It was only popular if you'd talked to Sparkle and Brooke, who'd been judges last year, but details. "You will be paired up!" Anakin continued. "You will have a variety of crafting supplies including macrame patterns, felt, rope, yarn, glue, staplers, and stun guns!"

Stun guns were craft supplies if you squinted? Maybe?

"You will have a half hour to create your masterpiece, another fifteen minutes to fit your model into it without getting bitten--" so good luck with that, "and then send him, her, or them down the runway for our guest judges to assess your work!"

He gestured at the chairs next to the runway. "Please welcome--" he frowned as Beaker handed him the list, "--Sparkle, Brooke, Keyleth, and..Camden."

This wasn't exactly what he meant when he'd asked Beaker to round up some catty judges. Oh well!

"Listen for your names!"

"...but we also don't get a giant terrifying fish if we don't win," Okuyasu said. "So no matter what, we're winners!"

Totally how that worked.

"No matter what, we don't get a fish," Paris said. "That doesn't make us winners, just...fishless."

She frowned at the dress. "Should we add fish to it?"

"We could put fish on it," Okuyasu said, looking down at the little dress. "Like a goldfish?"

Probably more of a mustardfish, given the materials available.

"Like a goldfish," Paris said, nodding. "Like a fish that a kindergartner can draw."

"Okay I know I said cats can be plants but I'm pretty sure you don't grow fish in a garden," Okuyasu said. "But I can cut out a fish, that's a thing I can do."

Paris was just going to chalk that comment up to all the drugs Okuyasu was clearly on.

"Good, do that. I'll finish the sweater and check on those boots."

Okuyasu was perfectly capable of cutting out a basic fish shape. He was, however, starting to get a little distracted by Paris’ take charge attitude.

“So... do you have a boyfriend?” he asked, king of subtlety.

Paris stared at him. "What? Why?"

Okuyasu let out a startled noise.

“Just making conversation?” he said, trying to sound casual.

"Uh huh," Paris said slowly, not buying that at all. "Not that I know why it's your business, but I don't have a boyfriend at this moment."

Or any other moment but DETAILS.

"Me neither," Okuyasu said with a nod.

He paused, thinking over that again, and then nodded again.

"I finished the fish," he said, holding up a very basic goldfish shape in mustard t-shirt cloth up against the dress he'd made. "It's not my style, but you had a good idea."

"Yay," Paris said dryly. "Go get a gremlin."

"Right!" Okuyasu said, standing up and walking over to the catwalk and just... reaching for a gremlin. "Come here little..."

One obliged by just chomping down on his hand.

"Why you little...!" Okuyasu yelped, and proceeded to chase said gremlin out of the community center entirely.

Whenever and wherever the venom kicked in, he'd be fine. Probably.
