Even Anakin wasn't going to invite the entire town to stand outside in radiation and next to a bomb just for a day of competition (though yes, he had considered in for a hot minute). Today's event was being held in the community center and the flickering lights and general malaise just kind of added to what would be the world's weirdest fashion show.

Because, yes, there was a catwalk set up down the center, currently being sat upon by a small herd (committee? Murder?) of gremlins.

"Today we will reprise last year's highly popular gremlin fashion show," Anakin yelled into the completely unnecessary bullhorn.

It was only popular if you'd talked to Sparkle and Brooke, who'd been judges last year, but details. "You will be paired up!" Anakin continued. "You will have a variety of crafting supplies including macrame patterns, felt, rope, yarn, glue, staplers, and stun guns!"

Stun guns were craft supplies if you squinted? Maybe?

"You will have a half hour to create your masterpiece, another fifteen minutes to fit your model into it without getting bitten--" so good luck with that, "and then send him, her, or them down the runway for our guest judges to assess your work!"

He gestured at the chairs next to the runway. "Please welcome--" he frowned as Beaker handed him the list, "--Sparkle, Brooke, Keyleth, and..Camden."

This wasn't exactly what he meant when he'd asked Beaker to round up some catty judges. Oh well!

"Listen for your names!"

"Oh, good," Kanan said, looking sidelong at Beaker. "There's no way this doesn't end in one or both of us being tied to a gremlin."

"Meep meep meep meep," Beaker agreed, looking resigned.

"Well, we might as well make it good anyway," Kanan sighed. "If I'm going to spend the rest of my afternoon thinking I'm a talking cockroach or something, I want to at least go into this knowing there was some effort involved."

"Meep meep!" Beaker said stoutly, reaching for a glue gun.

"MEEP MEEP MEEP!"

Don't grab it hot part first, Beaker.

Kanan just sighed, resigned, and reached for a puce shirt.

If he had to wear puce, so did the gremlins, dammit.

"Other end, buddy."

"Meep," Beaker said, putting the glue gun back down and holding out a mustard shirt.

Puce and mustard went together, right?

About as well as orange-red and chartreuse would, so really, this combination was about as solid as any other they could've gone for.

"Sure," Kanan said, striding gamely into this decision with all the fashion sense of a radroach. "We can use the mustard as accents on the puce, maybe... cut out little flower shapes or something."

Kanan realized a moment too late that he'd just suggested Beaker do anything that involved cutting things.

Too late, Kanan! Beaker already had scissors and had cut up the shirt into small pieces that could be considered flowers if you were looking for it VERY HARD.

And were feeling generous.

And someone told you they were flowers.

"... We can make it a mosaic piece," Kanan amended, blowing out a little breath between his teeth.

He had a sneaking suspicion that Anakin had paired him off with Beaker today specifically to make him suffer.

Anakin would ne--

Anakin would totally do that.

"Meep meep meep!" Beaker said, holding up the stapler triumphantly.

Don't let him staple things, Kanan.

Kanan was already reaching to attempt to gently extract that stapler from Beaker's hands, yes.

"We might want to steer clear of anything that might poke the gremlins," he offered. "Maybe try some tape instead."

This was going to venture into gremlin nip-slip territory.

"Meep meep!" Beaker agreed, giving Kanan a double thumbs up.

He would manage to completely mummify himself in tape, just give him a sec.

Would Kanan get in trouble for leaving him that way for the gremlin fitting?

Probably?

"... Hold on, buddy," he sighed. "I'll get you out of that."

"Meep meep," Beaker said, walking into a table.

It would be even worse of Kanan to tape Beaker to the table, right?

... Right?

He entertained the thought for a moment. And then shook it off, sighed, and stepped in to help rescue Beaker from his tapey prison instead.

Oh, tape him to the table for your own sanity, Kanan.

"Meep meep meep!" Beaker said.

Kanan's sanity was a long-suffering beast, and he'd given up on actually holding on to it back when he'd been stuck on a float with Beaker under a hail of glitter balloons last week.

"Well, if you hold still, I'll be able to get some of that off of you," he pointed out, reasonably. "Should've saved some of this stuff to go on the gremlin."

"Meep meep meep!" Beaker said helpfully, holding up the stun gun he absolutely had no business having.

Yeaaaaah. Kanan was going to just... stare at that for a moment.

And then sloooowly, ever so carefully, make a reach to take that.

"Meeeeep!" Beaker said, shooting it off.

Well, he didn't need to feel both legs, right? And...whatever else he hit?

The face that Kanan made in that moment was a very complicated combination of bemusement and instant regret. The sort that went hand-in-hand with suddenly finding oneself hitting the floor like a sack of bricks courtesy of a Muppet with a stun-gun.

...

And that would be Kanan, using the Force to pull the stun gun into his hand before they could have a repeat performance, there.

From the floor.

Where he was reasonably certain he was going to remain for a while, now.

"Meep," Beaker said, helpfully holding up some macrame rope!

They could make a lovely, if work-inappropriate, gremlin outfit from riiiight down here.

"... Why not," Kanan sighed.

This was his life, now.

"Might as well make it a good one."

They were so going to end up tied to a gremlin.

Oh, absolutely.

"Meep!" Beaker chirped.
