BWI Airport Portalocity Lounge, Saturday morning [05/04].

"What the ever-loving fuck is a Portalocity Lounge?"

Apparently, it was precisely the place where Wayne was standing, squared shoulders, thumbs in his belt loops, frowning up at the softest, most sparkliest banner he had ever seen...and he'd een to at least a baker's dozen of Dary's traditional soft birthday parties, so he knew a soft fucking banner when he saw one.

"That," he stated, to no one in particular, especially since he seemed to be the first one there (if you're not five minutes early, you're five minutes late, bud), "is fucking 10-ply."

But it was what it was. No going back now, ain't no reason to get excited, he supposed. Pitter-patter. So he turned his head sharply to one side of the lounge, eyed the chairs against the wall, and went to have a seat, one hand on his knee, tohe other around the smallest cup of coffee he could get, and settled in to wait.

"Hi. You going to Fandom, too?" Janet returned, and then paused. "Which is probably a duh?"

"I could just be hanging out in random airport lobbies, but that seems like a very strange way to spend time," Shuri said, smile growing larger. "I'm going to Fandom, too. Are you excited? I'm very excited."

"Maybe a little." She was very excited, and also didn't want to go to a brand new school and act too excited and do something dumb right away. She wasn't doing a great job of looking not-excited, though. "Where are you coming from?"

"Wakanda," Shuri said, "in Africa."

Which explained the accent.

Janet was a very smart girl who was suddenly having a minor panic over whether she was secretly terrible for not knowing what Wakanda was.

"Oh, so that's far." Nice save, Janet! "I'm just from Toronto. Canada."

"Oh, where the film festival is!" Shuri said. "Have you met any famous actors?"

Janet had not expected that question!

"I heard a rumor that someone made a Starbucks run for some of them nearby?" she tried.

So, no.

"I would love to know what some of them drink in their Starbucks orders," Shuri said, giggling. "I feel like that's vital information."

"I bet there's no sugar in any of it, and then what's even the point?"

Caffine.

"To stand around looking amazing, probably," Shuri said. "Fortunately for me, I can do that without the coffee."

Okay, Janet liked her. "And your nervous system thanks you."

Shuri winked. "Not a coffee drinker?"

"Oh, I am. My nervous system has nothing to thank me for," she said.

"Mine either," Shuri said. "But we just drink plain Ethiopian coffee. No frappuccinos."

"Have you ever had a frappucino, though?" Janet checked.

"No," Shuri said, looking very disappointed.

"We'll fix that," Janet promised. "There are so many different kinds."

Shuri beamed at her. "Thank you!"

Janet looked around. "Think we have ten minutes? I guarantee you there's a Frappuccino nearby with your name on it."

It would absolutely not be spelled correctly!

Sharon? Suzi? Some weird mix of both?

"Let's go!"
