"Let's see. I got to throw pumpkins at things in shop today. That didn't suck. " Xander pulled at a stringy bit of cheese on his pizza slice. "Well, my first set of clothes for the day got a little plastered with schrapnel, but that's what ~~alien roomies~~ laundry machines are for."

"Oh, I remember doing that last semester," Cally nods. "I got pumpkin guts shoved down my shirt." She shudders a little at the memory. "So, how're things with... erm... your frog?"

"Jeremiah? New that I've got a roommate who's not, you know, evil, he's possibly gonna turn into the fattest frog on Fandom Island, between the two of us. He does this...thing, with his eyes." Xander demonstrates, though somehow he manages to make it look more puppylike than froglike, possibly due to the lack of bulgey eyes. "It's like mind-control. You will give me more dead crunchy things now ~~OMG~~."

Cally stops chewing and blinks a few times. "Dead crunchy things. Yum."

Xander grins. "Well, they are to him, I guess. I'm more of a bacon bits than dried locusts guy, but... still crunchy dead things."

Cally chuckles, "I guess so, yeah." She pokes at her salad a bit with her fork. "So, umm, anything new, like... girl wise?"

"Well--" Xander pauses and rubs the back of his neck, as if he's thinking hard about what he's going to answer -- but as soon as he opens his mouth, a bright red missile comes streaking toward him from outside the open cafeteria doors.

He starts to bat it away, but it dives for his face, and marks something there with bold, hard strokes, before zooming away again.

Xander blinks.

"I... hesitate to ask."

Cally squints. "Answer... unclear... try again later." She blinks a few times. "What's that supposed to mean?"

"Good question." Xander rubs at his cheek. Pretty much no avail is availinating, though. "It...hasn't totaled up the extra credit points yet?"

"You get extra credit? Like... what for?" Cally grins.

"You're asking me?" Xander snickers and shakes his head. "I don't even know what it's grading us on!

Cally shrugs. "Good dental hygiene?"

"So it can't give me a grade right now 'cause I'm eating and it doesn't know if I'm gonna brush my teeth after or not?"

Xander stares out the open doors after the crayon. "That... logic makes sense to me, which worries me."

"It makes about as much as everything else around here. Like that stirrups rumor," Cally nods.

Xander is concerned.

Xander is not sure who he's concerned for.

This also concerns Xander.

"Stirrups rumor? About...who?"

"Me and Anders? It was on the radio?" Cally says. "I still haven't figured out what exactly someone is supposed to do with the stirrups, though."

Xander is still concerned. He does at least know who he's concerned for, though, since -- due to the fact that there's now a vivid and very detailed image in his head that he's never, ever, going to try to explain to Cally -- it's him.

"Huh. Me neither. I have absolutely no idea."

Cally shrugs. "So anyways... can I count on your vote?"

*Blink*

"My... vote? For, um... tell me we're not still talking about stirrups?"

"Did you not read the paper today?" Cally asks.

"Hadn't yet." Xander shakes his head and pulls the folded-up paper out from under his tray.

He unfolds and scans it.

"All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, learning is helpful, teenagers make out a lot, Mountie still hot. Okay, no offense to the staff, but is there ever any actual news in this thing?"

Then he gets to the bottom. "Oho hohohoho. Girlkissy poll."

Cally sticks out her lower lip a little. "Don't suppose you'd show your support your old Homecoming date, would you?"

Xander reads down the list of names again. "Well, not like there's a losing option here for me, no matter which one I pick."

Which is a nifty way not to say that he kinda leans toward Aeryn/Callisto, since the part about winning no matter what is true enough.

Cally sticks out her lower lip a little further. "But there's a whole lot of losing options for me," she says.

Xander puts up his hands in a ... kinda completely useless... warding off gesture. "Ack. With the Big Eyes! You taught my frog how to get the extra crunchies, didn't you!"
