Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

The lawn was arranged with tables and chairs - some near the food, some not - and there was plenty of food to go around. The school had even wised up and put to-go boxes by the plates, so people didn't have to put food in their pockets to take it with them for later. No one was gonna judge you for making some pocket bacon, but at least now it wasn't a necessity.

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"Oh. My. God," he said, "your dog!"

Sadaharu gave a bark and sat up, panting like a dog does.

"His name is Sadaharu and if you're not careful he'll bite, but he's just playing," Kagura warned. "He's a very good boy."

"Of course he is," Prompto agreed easily, beaming at the ohmygodsobig pupper before his attention shifted to the girl. "Is it...okay? Can I pet him?"

He wasn't going to let the threat of potential bites sway him on this one, no freaking way!

"Just move if he tries to latch onto your head," Kagura said, which was a generous warning she didn't normally give.

Sadaharu, for his part, barked again and wagged his tail.

"...right," said Prompto, who chuckled a little, but a warning like that definitely gave him pause as he eyed the big ol' doggo speculatively. And decided that potentially having head bitten off by an adorable giant dog was worth it. And he had a warning, he was pretty scrappy, he could probably get out of the way in time.

"Hey, there, big guy," he cooed as he went to go rub the dog's head. "Hi, Sadaharu, my name's Prompto. Who's a good, big," hopefully not bitey, "boy, hmmm?"

Sadaharu thankfully did not attempt to gnaw on Prompto, but instead happily leaned into the rubs and barked happily.

"Hey hey, good job," Kagura said, mainly to the dog. "I didn't want to have to clean up any blood, this is good."

Prompto felt relief wash all over him and his crooked grin spread almost triumphantly, although he knew he couldn't just let his guard down so quickly. Still, he had to reward Sadaharu for not biting his face off by offering even more by the way of petting, throwing a second hand into the mix and ruffling his fur with more, appreciative rubs.

"That's okay," he said, "you wouldn't have had to, they've got a janitor for that kind of thing."

And then all his attention was back on the dog. "Ohmygod, you are so stinkin' cute, I just want to squish your big giant face."

"That would probably cause a bite," Kagura warned. "But then again he might not like the taste of whatever you put in your hair."

This was Kagura playing nice, too.

Prompto was currently petting a giant fluffy doggo right now; Kagura could tell him he looked like a sad lonely bus driver with no girlfriend who was only interested in eating sandwiches right now and he would not even care.

...well, okay, he might care a little bit, because he did have a girlfriend.

...err...kind of.

Okay, not really. Either way: DOGGO!!

So he just chuckled and went to scratch behind one of those big ol' ears. "Style and protection! What more could you want in a hairstyle, huh?"

"You know, a girl could get a complex when boys take more interest in her dog than her," Kagura said.

"Not that I want a boy to be interested in me."

She actually, honestly, absolutely didn't.
