Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

The lawn was arranged with tables and chairs - some near the food, some not - and there was plenty of food to go around. The school had even wised up and put to-go boxes by the plates, so people didn't have to put food in their pockets to take it with them for later. No one was gonna judge you for making some pocket bacon, but at least now it wasn't a necessity.

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"I don't celebrate it," Octavia pointed out, pulling away. "You know that."

Yeah, Octavia really didn't think so.

She picked up yet another thing from the plentiful offerings of the food table. "But how was your Candlenights?"

"I fought snow monsters!" Luckily he had a belt that gave him half damage with ice.

"Oh, right." Yes, she'd gotten some fighting of her own in, no doubt about that. "I didn't think those two things overlapped."

"Candlenights is a strange, amorphous holiday that occurs when and where it wants." Well, that was slightly worrying.

"Okay," Octavia replied slowly. "How does that work?"

"It's based on the live shows." Magnus, that wasn't any better! "I made you a gift!" he said, immediately digging through his inventory.

Good distraction.

It worked decently well, if only because Octavia had no real desire to fogure out what 'live shows' meant in this context.

"A gift?" she asked instead. "You didn't have to."

"Yeah, but I wanted to," he said, finally producing a carved wooden figure that could be considered Grecian if you wanted to be kind.

Octavia wasn't really known for kindness, if only because she liked to keep hers carefully hidden away.

But there was something of a softening to her expression as she reached for the figure. "What is it?"

"It's supposed to be Athena, but I don't think I got the details right." Not being from this world and all.

"No, she's good." This opinion was probably influenced by how touched Octavia was that he'd made it in the first place. She was holding it like it was precious. "Thank you."
