Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

The lawn was arranged with tables and chairs - some near the food, some not - and there was plenty of food to go around. The school had even wised up and put to-go boxes by the plates, so people didn't have to put food in their pockets to take it with them for later. No one was gonna judge you for making some pocket bacon, but at least now it wasn't a necessity.

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Sidon was, of course, as usual, on the hunt for new faces, and, having found one such face taking full advantage of the plethora of consumables for the taking at the buffet tables, he had to grin and swing over to make his acquaintance.

"If you haven't yet," said the very large and very red psuedo-shark person with a grin that had far too many teeth, "might I suggest you try the pizza? It is absolutely one of my favorite highlights of any of these marvelous social gatherings!"

Literally the only thing preparing him for this was the fact that his, unfortunately, non-hallucinatory roommate was a talking cat person.

But even then, his hand went to his whip out of reflex. "What's pizza?" he went with because WHAT THE FUCK ELSE WAS HE SUPPOSED TO SAY IN THE FACE OF ALL THAT ~~kinda hot~~ SHARKMAN-NESS?

Sidon might have mused a little on how he sort of missed that kind of reaction, but that would assume that he was even remotely aware of them.

"Pizza," he offered, with a gesture toward to food in question, "is the delicacy you see there in the large cardboard boxes! A truly splendid combination of a truly superb sauce and enticingly melted cheese over a crust that makes it wonderfully easy to handle! Other things are often added, as well, any combination of meats and vegetables and even sometimes fruit!, that your heart can conceive! It is often sliced into convenient triangle shapes, though I have seen them separated into squares before, as well. A truly versatile and satisfying morsel. It comes highly recommended."

That was just... a whole lot of words for a weird melty cheese on bread. Look, he was from an extra crapsack version of middle ages Romania. So this was witchcraft and sorcery!

Luckily, Trevor was already damned, so in for a penny...

He squinted at the so-called pizza for a moment before taking a slice. "What the hell would anyone put fruit on this?"

"Oh," said Sidon, rather gravely for someone who'd only known about pizza for little over a year, "it's a highly contested controversy, really, but it's rooted in the idea of whether or not sweet flavors should be mixed with savory ones, and it's almost entirely focused around a fruit called a pineapple. Perhaps I am blessed to not have a palate refined enough to take a strong stance on the matter myself, but there are some people out there who are wildly passionate about their side to this particular issue."

...Sidon, how did you even know all of this, anyway?

He had his ways, apparently.

Internet. It was all the internet.

"Sounds like they have too much time on their hands," Trevor settled on. Because his focus tended to be on survival, finding some beer, and killing bad things because he had guilt issues.

"I quite agree!" said Sidon with a bright laugh. "Why bother arguing about such menial details when one could simply just be enjoying themselves with the offering available to them? And you must forgive me. In my excitement to tell you about pizza, I must have completely forsaken my concept of proper manners! We've yet to be introduced! I am Sidon!"

He pumped his fist across his chest with a vigor that seemed to make up for the social misstep and met him with a bright grin that caught the light just perfectly/i>> "The Zora Prince! It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance!"

"Trevor." If he was impressed (and he sorta was) he was not showing it at all.

"Trevor!" Sidon repeated it like it was the best name he'd ever heard and, in that moment, it genuinely was! "Fantastic! What a great name! Where are you from, Trevor? And what brings you here to this strange and wonderful school?"

Sidon, your enthusiasm was terrible and yet Trevor couldn't disengage from this. Well, he could, but...

"Wallachia." Which meant almost nothing to most people from this era, but go off I guess. "A magic cart. I thought this was a food poisoning nightmare, actually."

Wait, was he expected to go to classes? Hard pass on that one.

"Did you recently ingest some food that might cause you to worry about such a thing?" asked Sidon, but, at this point, he sounded far more amused than he did concerned. "Is it a fair assumption, then, that this place so far is substantially different from your Wallachia?"

Well, no one talked with a random English accent and no awful side characters went off on goat-fucking tangents in earshot of him. Thanks, Warren Ellis.

"Yeah," he said, looking at Sidon like maybe he was one of the substantial differences here. Because he was. "A few things are different."

"It's rather different from my own</i world, as well," Sidon offered, as sort of a gesture of relatablity. "It can be a little <i>strange</i> getting accustomed to it at first, but it's amazing how much some of it starts to feel a bit more normal. Though, I will admit, some have an easier time with it than others."

"My roommate is a cat person." So. That's his life.

"Your roommate is Mae?" Sidon guessed, far too pleased to be able to already make an association with another new student. "Or is there another cat person I've yet to encounter so far?"

If there was another, Sidon was determined to find them and meet the heck out of them!

"...I think it's just Mae." DID HE TOO NEED TO FIND THIS OTHER CAT PERSON?

"How wonderful, then!" said Sidon. "Mae is an absolute delight. I had the opportunity to meet her when I was seeking out my little sibling for the semester, Kat Stratford. You can...probably see why I might have been a little confused."

He chuckled a little at his own silly gaffe for a moment.

"I trust you were given a sibling as well? Might I ask who it was?"

"Sibling?" Well, it looked like he'd missed finding that section of the picnic at least.
