Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

The lawn was arranged with tables and chairs - some near the food, some not - and there was plenty of food to go around. The school had even wised up and put to-go boxes by the plates, so people didn't have to put food in their pockets to take it with them for later. No one was gonna judge you for making some pocket bacon, but at least now it wasn't a necessity.

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

“Obviously,” Beau said, smirking and returning the fistbump with slightly less hesitation this time. “Shit, they let me past the gates.”

And she was going to leave with so much bacon, too.

“I might do that, though. It’s something to do.” That involved punching things, which was always a draw.

“That’s kind of my thing, though,” Beau protested, mostly in an attempt to pretend being called cool wasn’t gratifying. “It’s no fun if it’s everybody else’s thing too.”

She totally wanted to show off a little bit, though.

He said, knowing Barry Bluejeans who was possibly three different classes to cover all the skills he had.

Because he didn't wear any himself, and so he was kind of a lost cause.

Beau could! Because thieves’ tools proficiency came with the criminal background.

“You never know, though. Pretty useful life skill, actually.”

Not that she ever did it in game either.

Sadaharu, for his part, barked again and wagged his tail.

Even if he did seem to think Baltimore would be too racist for her.

It was a weird mistake to make. Unless you knew the name of the girl he'd actually been looking for, anyway.

"...right," said Prompto, who chuckled a little, but a warning like that definitely gave him pause as he eyed the big ol' doggo speculatively. And decided that potentially having head bitten off by an adorable giant dog was worth it. And he had a warning, he was pretty scrappy, he could probably get out of the way in time.

"Hey, there, big guy," he cooed as he went to go rub the dog's head. "Hi, Sadaharu, my name's Prompto. Who's a good, big," hopefully not bitey, "boy, hmmm?"

Sadaharu thankfully did not attempt to gnaw on Prompto, but instead happily leaned into the rubs and barked happily.

"Hey hey, good job," Kagura said, mainly to the dog. "I didn't want to have to clean up any blood, this is good."

Kaidan was a little bemused and dopey looking when he finally went to check out the tail end of the picnic. He'd slept most of the day. Probably trying to fight off a cold or something, he guessed.

He didn't see Jack. He was looking around for Kanan.

"What sort of things did they ask you about?" Sidon would hate to pry, of course, but it was impossible for him not to wonder how the other Zora had taken to Vette. Of course, he couldn't imagine they'd be anything but amazed by her, as he was. "They must have been incredibly curious!"

She saw that and smirked. Casually strolling along until she was behind him and out of his line of sight, she made sure the run up was clear.

Then she did run. Right at his back. Lips skinned back in a manic, gleeful, terrible smile.

When she was close enough, she leapt and hit the ground with biotics for a small added boost.

Incoming, asshole.

Prompto felt relief wash all over him and his crooked grin spread almost triumphantly, although he knew he couldn't just let his guard down so quickly. Still, he had to reward Sadaharu for not biting his face off by offering even more by the way of petting, throwing a second hand into the mix and ruffling his fur with more, appreciative rubs.

"That's okay," he said, "you wouldn't have had to, they've got a janitor for that kind of thing."

And then all his attention was back on the dog. "Ohmygod, you are so stinkin' cute, I just want to squish your big giant face."

He felt her coming. The hairs on the back of his neck rose of their own accord and every instinct in him started shrieking alarms. Kaidan spun just in time to see her leave the ground.

It gave him just enough time to recognize her and what was about to happen. Time enough to brace and catch her around the waist when she landed on him.

"JACK!"

"What are you.. Why.. how?.. You said New Year's Eve!" he spluttered up into her face when his brain derailed.

Kaidan had shown up with a sleep-dazed expression that had turned into near shock when Jack had pounced on him. The news was..well. It sure was some news. He didn't really know what to think about it yet, and his brain was just a completely surprised stew.

He went to the picnic tables and began pretending he was contemplating which snacks he wanted.
