Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I
Despite the not-so-great weather earlier in the week, the weather today looked nice and... well, decent for the end of December, and while the rest of town might still have signs of last week's snow, there were no traces left outside the school. (It just meant one less uncomfortable question for the big siblings to deal with, you're welcome.)
The buffet table was ready, set as far as possible from the glittered-out blue and gold tables and chairs. The winter bonfire was crackling for warmth and food-toasting opportunities. The lists of siblings and roommates had been double-checked. It looked like everything was ready for a picnic!
[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Re: Meet Your Teachers! [Spring 2019]
... Last week had not been a great time for him.
//Usually everyone comes out the other end in that second case, though. There's that.//

And that she wasn't going to call him on it here in front of the kids.
Instead she took a light tone, "Did you just imply people turn into shit here? 'Comes out the other end'? I've only heard that about some sketchy food."
Re: Meet Your Teachers! [Spring 2019]
He appreciated her letting it slide.
Even if it was only for now.
Re: Meet Your Teachers! [Spring 2019]
That did not smell like actual shit.
Re: Meet Your Teachers! [Spring 2019]
Kind of came with the territory.

//Meanwhile, anyone who knows me would probably need a few moments of convincing if I wanted them to believe I'd done it on purpose.//
What a life it was, being a walking disaster zone.

Look you, if you're going to stand there being all on fire, she's gonna want to touch it. Jack kind of lived to play with fire.
In every way that could be meant.
Re: Meet Your Teachers! [Spring 2019]
//By all means.//
It would be warm to the touch, but not uncomfortably so. And... faintly amused? Yes, it would feel that way, too. Even with his walls up, there was really no helping it when you were running your hands through the raw psionic essence of a telepath descended from Apocalypse.
Re: Meet Your Teachers! [Spring 2019]
Her hands went into the fire and her face lit up. She would punch anyone who mentioned how much like a happy little girl she looked at that moment. It was warm and it was neat and it was energy that she could feel tickling along her skin. Nothing like the dark energy she threw around like a weapon but something totally other and new.
She had no mental walls. At a low ebb today is the dark churning anger that kept her going. It had given way for the day to a more mellow mood, something sort of like curiosity about this whole island and teacher thing. Everyone she'd met so far seemed decent and that puzzled her so much she sort of wanted to start checking for traps. A thread of worry cut through everything. Constantly there. Worried about Kaidan and not the least of why because she hadn't seen him yet. That concern was the main thing that had brought her here. Affection for Kanan and Sparkle was there like bright notes in the dark. Surprising notes that left a sort of bemusement in their wake.
She could see the shirt slack down the center and could piece together what that meant. How much that must have hurt the first time but it wasn't pity. More an approving sort of thing for whatever sort of ability or strength of will let him be standing here today. Jack was neither afraid nor disgusted by any of it.
When she almost reluctantly took her hands away, she gave him a lopsided smile. "Thanks. That was neat."
Re: Meet Your Teachers! [Spring 2019]
He wondered at it for a moment, but didn't ask. Didn't even let it show on his face that he had noticed it was there. It almost eclipsed the rest entirely, the eerie familiarity of it.
Hell, maybe he was more than welcome to left it. Always hated a little bit, feeling like he was peering at things he wasn't intended to see.
//Not a request I get often,// he replied, lifting a shoulder slightly. //Genuine curiosity is a welcome change of pace, honestly.//
Re: Meet Your Teachers! [Spring 2019]
She even had that phrase on a shirt.
"Yeah, well, people suck," was her answer to that. "Always figured it's better to ask, you know?"
Re: Meet Your Teachers! [Spring 2019]
... He'd experienced this on several occasions, you see.
Yes, around here.
