Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

Despite the not-so-great weather earlier in the week, the weather today looked nice and... well, decent for the end of December, and while the rest of town might still have signs of last week's snow, there were no traces left outside the school. (It just meant one less uncomfortable question for the big siblings to deal with, you're welcome.)

The buffet table was ready, set as far as possible from the glittered-out blue and gold tables and chairs. The winter bonfire was crackling for warmth and food-toasting opportunities. The lists of siblings and roommates had been double-checked. It looked like everything was ready for a picnic!

[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Kat paused, then started looking around. "Okay. Where's the camera?"

"Oh, did you need one?" Sidon asked, tilting his head, because if felt like a strange follow-up to his ramble, but all the same, he wanted to be helpful, and he looked around a little. "Perhaps I could find Tip or Prompto for you; they never have a camera too far from their reach, and nearly everyone has one on their phones. I don't get much use of mine, really, if you'd like to borrow mine?"

As someone who came from a time before cell phones were a widespread thing, Kat shook her head like she was shaking off this whole interaction out of her brain.

"Look, I'm sure it's a time-honored tradition to prank the new kids and all, but I'm not falling for it," she said. "I'm unprankable."

"That's excellent to hear," Sidon smiled faintly, some of his gusto taken down a little by that, but it didn't take much to relate that a bit to how Paris had first reacted to him, as well. He still wasn't entirely sure if she didn't still believe he was just a person very dedicated to a costume. "But I assure you, I am not attempting to prank you. Perish the thought! Though I do understand that this can also seem wildly bizarre to someone who is not used to it; that's half the reason I volunteer for this sibling position! I like to meet new people, but I understand that I have the unique ability to present myself as a very significant example of what this place is like. I don't expect you to believe me right away on everything, but I would rather like for you to keep an open mind and don't at all hesitate to ask me any question you may have, no matter how strange it may seem.

"After all," he sent her what he hoped would be a warming smile, "is it likely to be any stranger than..." He opened his arms as sort of a gesture to himself, "this?"

"Okay, then you can answer me this: which way's the dorms?"

And Sidon had to laugh at that a little.

"Starting with the easy questions, I see!" he remarked. "Why, that's simple. The dorms are over there, you can't miss them, they're right there, past the castle, which is the school. Have you had the opportunity to meet your roommate yet or get your room number?"

"Yep!" She had not. And now she had to find out how to find that. "So I'm just gonna be on my way. Long trip. Gotta settle in and all."

"Oh, yes," Sidon nodded in understanding, though he had to admit he was a little surprised Kat Stratford didn't have more questions, but, perhaps after Nina as a little sibling, anyone would seem rather quiet and tight-lipped. "Of course. But if you need anything, anything at all, please don't hesitate to ask. That's what I'm here for, after all, though I'd be willing to help, even if that weren't the case. You can find me in Room 420, or even at the Furnado Animal Shelter on Thursdays. They have puppies there!"

That seemed to be quite the draw for a lot of people, really.
