Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

Despite the not-so-great weather earlier in the week, the weather today looked nice and... well, decent for the end of December, and while the rest of town might still have signs of last week's snow, there were no traces left outside the school. (It just meant one less uncomfortable question for the big siblings to deal with, you're welcome.)

The buffet table was ready, set as far as possible from the glittered-out blue and gold tables and chairs. The winter bonfire was crackling for warmth and food-toasting opportunities. The lists of siblings and roommates had been double-checked. It looked like everything was ready for a picnic!

[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"I'm certain there are more than enough criminals to keep the prisons properly stocked," Hannibal said. "The difference would be that they would be those causing difficulties for others, rather than those attempting to solve problems."

And he wouldn't care if they were baseline humans, mutants, or the police themselves. He was equal-opportunity.

And here Jono had been making a comment on Hannibal's larder...

Erm. Almost.

There was no point in being obvious about things.

"Enough to fund my campaign?" Hannibal asked. He was considering it now.

Jonothon was side-eyeing you so hard, Hannibal.

//That'd be more'n a full-time job,// he pointed out. //Are you looking to move to New York any time soon?//

Because he'd be cool with that, sure, but he'd have to sell his business and tie up a couple of loose ends first, probably.

... And selling the house in its current state would be tricky.

Hannibal considered it a moment longer, then sighed. "I would have to complete ungodly amounts of paperwork, I'm certain, and there would be far too little time to influence individuals." He was about getting people to self-actualize, and had little desire to actually boss them around. "I suppose that is a thought for later days."

If he got very bored in old age, maybe.

//Interesting retirement plan,// Jono noted, raising an eyebrow. //You ever decide to take that one up for certain, let me know.//

He'd like to at least stay on the island until Alluka graduated, anyway.

"I will," Hannibal promised. "As you say, we would have to decide to relocate should that happen. And presently I'm enjoying Fandom."

He took a drink of coffee, hiding a smirk. "Do you think I could get the FBI to write me letters of reference?"

//Well, assuming your trigger-happy friend wasn't eaten by a stegosaurus or something, I'm certain he'd have a few words to say...//

Probably not helpful words.

"Very likely," Hannibal agreed. He wondered if there were a world out there with a version of him that hadn't been detected yet. Perhaps he could get them to write him letters.

Of course, he could simply forge some, but that wasn't a challenge.

"For now, I'll remain a teacher. And without a record in your world."

//I think we can all agree that the longer you spend without a record, the happier we'll all be,// Jono agreed.

Only faintly exasperated.

Wasn't like he didn't know what he was in for when they'd gotten married, after all.

Hannibal raised an eyebrow at him.

Would you prefer that I had done nothing? he asked. The children had been in danger, Jono, but he had acted the way he had largely for you.

//Of course not,// Jono replied. //From what you've told me, you saved at least one of them...//

In the messy murder way, mind.

"Well, then." Hannibal nodded. "I'll simply have to do what I must."

Take that any way you wanted to.

... With a grain of salt and a pinch of worry.

//I suppose you will.//

Really, when all was said and done, who would be able to stop him anyway?
