So apparently book-swarms were a thing. Or were in the Fandom library, at least, Tip knew better than to assume anything that happened in Fandom necessarily also happened anywhere else.

The important thing was, there was a whole slew of beekeeping books swishing in and out of the nonfiction section stacks in a big blob, pages buzzing, ready to give paper cuts to anyone who came near.

Tip couldn't find any sort of protective bookkeeping suit around, so she was just going to keep an eye on it from afar and see if it tired itself out. If not . . . she was not above letting it be the next person's problem. She hated paper cuts.

Tip barely even had to think about it. "I'm totally in. Especially if it's next month."

Getting to visit Hyrule and skip the island's manic Christmas run up and all its reminders about Smekday? Hell. Yes.

It was always so encouraging when the answer came not only quickly, but also so positively.

Sidon's grin nearly reached sparkle-level as he threw his arms open and very clearly, by the volume of his voice, forgot he was in the library.

He...never really remembered in the first place, truth be told.

"Excellent!" he declared, with a pump of his fist. "I was thinking next month, right after we've all finished with the semester, before moving onto the next! I figured it would be just the thing, a perfect little respite before returning and seeing what the new year has in store for us."

Oh wow. Sidon really had no trouble, ah, projecting, did he. Tip shot a quick look at the nonfiction section, hoping that the bookswarm wouldn't end up getting mad at the noise and decide to come harass the front desk.

So far, so good.

"Definitely," she said. "And the holidays can be really hectic for some people, so having a break to look forward to could be really helpful."

Hey, Tip had been where Sidon had grown up before. It was kind of hard to know what an inside voice was when you didn't really live...inside.

"Do you find the holidays terribly hectic?" he asked. "I'm afraid I still haven't quite gotten a comprehension for all the holidays here, but if that is something that would help, then that certainly is a delightful added bonus! I will mostly just be glad for a few days away from the winter weather, assuming it'll arrive by then. That, and, of course, because I do rather enjoy being able to share something important and meaningful to me with those I care about."

"The winter holidays are a little . . . complicated in my world," Tip said. "Well. They're not, but --" She took a deep breath, rolled her eyes at herself, and sighed. "So Christmas used to be a really big deal where I'm from, especially for me and my mom because we didn't have any other family. And then she got abducted by aliens in front of me right in the middle of it one year, which was really really horrible, and the aliens took the whole holiday over, and now instead of Christmas my world celebrates Smekday as the day the aliens came and the day we got them to leave again, and it's all just a big reminder of things being really really horrible for awhile when I was 11. But it's also why I have J.Lo in my life. So -- yeah. Complicated covers it."

"Yes," said Sidon, frowning thoughtfully as he took all of that in, "I can easily see why this time of year might be something one might need a break from, then. Complicated, indeed! I'm so sorry that all of that should have happened to you, Tip, but you make an excellent point that if none of that had happened, you would have likely never have had the chance to know J.Lo, so there is some good that can come out of such troublesome complications. And everything does seem better now?" He ended that one with a questioning lift, glancing at her speculatively for a confirmation. "Even if they remain a mite uncomfortable."

"Yeah, Earth is its own independent planet again," Tip said. "But . . . colonialism sucks. Even when the natives manage to kick their conquerors to the curb."
