Library, Monday
So apparently book-swarms were a thing. Or were in the Fandom library, at least, Tip knew better than to assume anything that happened in Fandom necessarily also happened anywhere else.
The important thing was, there was a whole slew of beekeeping books swishing in and out of the nonfiction section stacks in a big blob, pages buzzing, ready to give paper cuts to anyone who came near.
Tip couldn't find any sort of protective bookkeeping suit around, so she was just going to keep an eye on it from afar and see if it tired itself out. If not . . . she was not above letting it be the next person's problem. She hated paper cuts.

"Hello, Tip," he started, nodding to her before sending a glance about the library, "I'd ask after how you were doing today, but I have a sneaking suspicion that, whatever your answer may be, it would likely involve something on the part of the books acting rather strange today, as they are wont to do. Is my assumption very far off the mark?"

"And," he added with a second wind of enthusiasm, the concerned look on his face replaced easily with a smile, "it is going marvelously well, Tip, thank you so much for asking! I am a man of two missions today, and any day consisting of clear and reachable goals is likely to be a day of satisfying fulfillment and productivity! How goes everything with you, excepting, of course, the bothersome books?"

It had been long enough since they'd last chatted that Tip had actually opened her mouth to respond before he got into that second bit. But she was happy enough to close it again and wait, an amused smile on her face, for him to finish.
"There's an angry bookswarm giving people paper cuts," she explained. "So . . . you can make of that what you will, I guess. And I'm alright. Just got back from being home for Thanksgiving. It was fun getting to hang out with Mom and J.Lo again."
And it was still early enough that she hadn't had to run into too many reminders of the impending Smekday celebrations, which was always a bonus.

"I'll do my best to be careful," Sidon nodded, smiling faintly. "Papercuts would easily be a swift road to an uncomfortable evening, I'm quite sure! That is, I suppose, one reason to be grateful that my own society has little use for paper with which to be cut. And how wonderful! That you've managed to spend the holiday back home with friends and family; it must have been a fantastic time; did you do anything particularly special?"

Tip shrugged. "Nothing big or anything. J.Lo tried to help with the turkey by building a laser-powered oven and nearly burning down the house, but that happens probably every other year or so. And we went to Philadelphia over the weekend to hang out. J.Lo likes the Mutter Museum. It's all full of weird biological specimens. He makes some really impressive disgusted faces."

"And speaking of visits," Sidon continued, feeling incredibly proud of that particularly seamless transition, "that happens to be the topic of one of my pursuits for today. I was planning on coming in for some books, regardless, but just yesterday, I was thinking about and discussing with Norman that it might perhaps be time for another trip back to my homeworld. It is still very much in the beginning stages of planning, but I was rather curious if you think it might be something you'd like to join me for again?"

Tip barely even had to think about it. "I'm totally in. Especially if it's next month."
Getting to visit Hyrule and skip the island's manic Christmas run up and all its reminders about Smekday? Hell. Yes.

Sidon's grin nearly reached sparkle-level as he threw his arms open and very clearly, by the volume of his voice, forgot he was in the library.
He...never really remembered in the first place, truth be told.
"Excellent!" he declared, with a pump of his fist. "I was thinking next month, right after we've all finished with the semester, before moving onto the next! I figured it would be just the thing, a perfect little respite before returning and seeing what the new year has in store for us."
no subject
Oh wow. Sidon really had no trouble, ah, projecting, did he. Tip shot a quick look at the nonfiction section, hoping that the bookswarm wouldn't end up getting mad at the noise and decide to come harass the front desk.
So far, so good.
"Definitely," she said. "And the holidays can be really hectic for some people, so having a break to look forward to could be really helpful."
no subject
"Do you find the holidays terribly hectic?" he asked. "I'm afraid I still haven't quite gotten a comprehension for all the holidays here, but if that is something that would help, then that certainly is a delightful added bonus! I will mostly just be glad for a few days away from the winter weather, assuming it'll arrive by then. That, and, of course, because I do rather enjoy being able to share something important and meaningful to me with those I care about."

"The winter holidays are a little . . . complicated in my world," Tip said. "Well. They're not, but --" She took a deep breath, rolled her eyes at herself, and sighed. "So Christmas used to be a really big deal where I'm from, especially for me and my mom because we didn't have any other family. And then she got abducted by aliens in front of me right in the middle of it one year, which was really really horrible, and the aliens took the whole holiday over, and now instead of Christmas my world celebrates Smekday as the day the aliens came and the day we got them to leave again, and it's all just a big reminder of things being really really horrible for awhile when I was 11. But it's also why I have J.Lo in my life. So -- yeah. Complicated covers it."

"Yeah, Earth is its own independent planet again," Tip said. "But . . . colonialism sucks. Even when the natives manage to kick their conquerors to the curb."
