Practical Ethics, Tuesday, November 20, 2018

Anakin was alone in the class today. "Aphra is...otherwise engaged today," he said.

He was pretty sure she was either selling or getting an additional terrifying goat to add to her collection.

"I'm pretty sure she's not in prison?" he added helpfully. "So. Droid babies. I had not anticipated many of you turning into small children this weekend, obviously, so if your babies are covered in marker tattoos and have been given unfortunate haircuts, I'll understand. But only this time. If you gave them bad haircuts and tattoos on Thursday, that's an entirely different problem."

He waved a hand. "So, tell me what you learned other than 'small children have no business raising babies', because I'm pretty sure you knew that already."

"With the exceptions of the few days in which I was too small and young myself to properly take care of a child," Sidon offered, "I had a wonderful time with Steelquake Hazelburp Gentletoes the Third." Because of course he did. "Having no experience rearing a humanoid child, I was very pleased to discover that the wants and needs of them are not at all dissimilar from that of a Zora: they want food and comfort and attention, they like ot know that they are loved and cherished and safe. I must admit, I do rather feel that the Zora way of raising children communally is more beneficial than expecting one to go about it on their own. As much as I enjoyed my time with Steelquake and I certainly hoped she enjoyed her time with me, I think the best moments came, easily, from when I could share her experience with others who I also care about."

He concluded with an expected big grin, though it did seem a little sad. "I believe I'm rather going to miss her and those gentle toes."

...leave it to Sidon to bond with the freaking robot baby, yes.

"But I'm exceptionally grateful to have had the experience. Thank you, Master Skywalker, for such an incredibly thorough and meaningful lesson!"

"I'm not having kids."

Always a little weird to follow someone like Sidon with four words.
