Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

Everyone had been keeping a close eye on the weather, and gave a sigh of relief as it turned out to be a pretty decent day. Sure, it was still a little warm, but it wasn't humid, or raining something strange. You had to take your wins where you could get them around here.

As usual, there was a buffet of food awaiting the folks on the welcome shuttle, and blue and gold tables and chairs were set up across the lawn, most still covered in glitter from the last picnic. Sorry not! Happy picnic day!

[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

The country drawl was the most reassuring thing about him. Carter knew all about the country.

He still hadn't been prepared for a big, green man with a sword, though.

"Fjord," he repeated, carefully pronouncing it the way the other man had said it. "Iris mentioned that you were new, and needing a co-teacher?"

"That would be correct, Pastor," Fjord agreed. "Though I wasn't expecting to find myself here in the first place." He looked down at the paperwork again. "Or to find myself teaching a class about making friends."

And influencing people! Which was also rather his forté.

"At least making friends is a pleasant past-time," Carter said, smiling. "Though I haven't figured out yet how the... office moose... knew I baked."

Now that he'd gotten a look at his co-teacher, Carter didn't think that the homemade cookies bit was coming from Fjord.

Yeah, Fjord was more the 'smash things to death to protect your friends' type. They balanced out, right?

"The moose knew my name," he pointed out. "Before I even ended up here, most likely. It must have some pretty good sources for information."

"It knew mine as well," Carter admitted. "Though I was planning to come here, but not to teach."

"Yeah, I was... not so much with the planning to be here," Fjord noted. "I was traveling, but to someplace else completely."

And he had no idea what had become of his travel companion, at that.
