Camp Shenanigans [Wednesday, July 11, 2018]

Today the bleachers were back, but instead of tables full of terrifying craft supplies, there was a single table full of white shirts in a variety of Fandomite-appropriate sizes and a giant "Start" sign over the path into town.

"Welcome to Fandom's very first color run!" Anakin said, smiling a little evilly. "I have created a five kilometer or so run through the island, interspersed with fun--" if you were Anakin and not participating, for instance, "--activities to complete at various stops. Please put on your white shirt and get ready to run. The person in third place wins the fish. So there. Stop trying to not get it. You're all hurting its feelings that it probably has by now. Don't make this thing gain sentience and try to kill us all."

With that cheery thought, Anakin started the race: "And go."

Breq picked up a t-shirt, shrugged and pulled it over her head. Was things going to get literally messy? She could deal with that.

The best thing about the bleachers, Astrid decided, was that sitting at the top of them gave her an excellent new perspective from which to draw while she just sort of hung around before everything got started. It wasn't like she had heaps of things to do or anything, so she didn't mind coming early and just watching (and sometimes drawing) everyone else show up.

Seivarden had been bored. And hungover. That was why she was here and putting on a t-shirt, even if she was having bad feelings about it all.

"I'm going to fucking regret this," she muttered.

Sidon was usually a little irritated with activities that seemed to insist that he wear clothing, but in the case of just a simple t-shirt, he didn't terribly mind. The fact that everyone else was getting t-shirt just made it seem part of the festive spirit of competition and camaraderie and, out of all the human clothing he'd been forced to wear, a t-shirt was hardly offensive and actually fit without too much of an issue, even if a bit snug around his shoulders, tight as it pressed down on his gils there.

So maybe no one would mind terribly if his sleeves were rolled up to be more accommodating.

Kitty sighed, and headed for the bleachers. Maybe she could make people who didn't want to do these events participate because she wanted to and couldn't?

"Kitty, watch my jacket," said Rosa, tossing said jacket onto the bleacher seat next to Kitty, then pulling her hair out from underneath the collar of the shirt she'd just put on. Her chin jerked up. "I'm gonna win that fish. For you."

Like some knight pledging allegiance at a joust to a pregnant, married princess. And because she pretty much said she might last night before all the pond drama.

Having reneged on her deal with the squirrels about getting out of these things in exchange for doing radio, and being able to avoid their wrath last week thanks to being in Brooklyn for Boyle's barbecue, Rosa had a feeling she knew what was coming today. And with her ringing ear and her failed attempts to punch Seivarden last night, she was just going to head them at the pass and come to this thing willingly, grabbing a shirt and yanking it on before the squirrels could even think to start making one little chitter at her.

At least it would be a distraction from the pain, right? And after talking to Kitty, she almost wanted to win that damn thing.

One one hand, Rey never wanted to win that fish again. On the other hand, this sort of looked like training if you squinted. She just had to end up but third. So fine, she'd put on a shirt.

The t-shirts were an interesting touch; Amaya wasn't sure what exactly a color run was, but it didn't take much to make a few deductions, and she had a feeling this was going to be pretty fun, if anything. Something physical that didn't involve braiding. Count her in!

Hey, Kanan could do this. Hell, Kanan could do this well. And so he was grabbing one of those shirts, maybe slightly wary of what having to change his clothes might have actually meant, and then he was making his way to the starting line.

He just had to get first, or second, or fourth. He could manage that, probably.

Sparkle wasn't sure exactly how this had happened. He'd wound up here, and then there was a shirt, and the next thing he knew, he was wearing it.

"... Okay then."

He supposed he was stuck for this one.

Zack was in a social mood today, and so he'd come to the park, hoping that whatever the activity was today, it would be a fun one.

Pulling on a shirt and grinning, he was not disappointed.

"This is going to be great!"

... This was a guy who did squats for the fun of it. His definition of 'great' was maybe not most people's.

After a lovely run along Loon Run (and up allllll of those stairs), the first stop, over by Galactica Point, is a nice spot to stop and rest your aching legs.

After you get across this fiendish set of monkey bars, you are rewarded by getting dried blue dye dropped all over you. Yay?

It wasn't that difficult for her, but Breq wasn't going to admit that she found it fun. Not the blue paint at the end, but considering the t-shirts, she wasn't that surprised.

Getting across this was a nice kind of challenge, with a reminder that she should go to the gym more often. The hangover made it a little worse though, and then there was the...

In celebration of getting over the ladder, Anakin has arranged for the NPC firepersons to spray you down with water. And then douse you in red dye. No need to thank him.

Challenge #3: The Lighthouse

Halfway through! Hooray! Are you hot? Well, then this will fix that immediately.

Welcome to the Arctic Enema.

And once you're finished, you get hit with orange dye!

Challenge #4: Abandoned Campground

Do you just want to lay on the ground and never move by now?

Well, this obstacle accomplishes half of that! Crawl through the tunnels! It's Boa Constrictor time!

Anakin makes no promises about the tunnels being gremlin free. Relatedly, the dye you get hit with is green.

Challenge #5: Back at the Park

It's a happy ending! You're back! You're tired, you're dyed weird colors, and you have to climb a thirty foot slide to come down into the park and then get hit with a barrage of rainbow-colored dye, but you're finished!

"Rosa!" Anakin called, holding the fish up high. "Come get this thing."

She said she was going to win that fish, didn't she? It was just as easy to try to win third place as it would have been to earn first, especially with people generally probably trying not to be in that particular spot.

"Cool," she said, coming up to get the fish, taking it, and tucking it under her arm, "thanks."

And then she left.

She and this fish had plans.
