Summer Games: Wednesday, The Park [morning]

"Good morning!" Anakin yelled into the megaphone from the small platform he had erected in the park. "Students, please listen for your names and find your partner or partners as your name is called: Sidon and Aloy; Jason and Rey; Bobby and Paris; Ahsoka and Uma; Theron and Peridot; Astrid and Norman; Tip, Sabine and Beaker."

Once the students were in place, Anakin held up a sheaf of paper in his hand. "Today, with the help of the proprietors in town, we're conducting a Scavenger Hunt. You have a very long list: You must find 15 of the items from that list and either take a picture or video of yourselves completing the tasks. Whoever completes their 15 in the shortest amount of time will win the coveted, terrifying, singing fish," he said, holding his hand out for it to fly to him. It was still shrieking Sabotage as it flew, but now it also rained confetti on anyone close enough to be in its flight path. As Anakin held it, it treated the entire group to holographic footage of Theron being chased by a Roomba.

You're welcome, Theron.

"Right," Anakin said slowly. "Someone come take this thing from me as quickly as possible. On your marks, get set, go."

Theron was starting to wonder if that fish had mind-control powers.

"Sure, we could do that."

Nah, the fish didn't have mind-control powers.

Yet.

But Peridot had put a lot of effort into rigging that thing up to fly, dang it!

"Good," she replied, peering up at Theron. "Then we'll need to plot our course carefully, so as to be certain to maximize our scavenging abilities."

Yeah, Peridot was giving him the strangest look at that.

"And how do you figure that will help?"

Think of it as practice for the times Lana and you were going to forget you were capable of having fun, Theron.

"So we still have somethign to show for it if we don't win?"

"Why wouldn't we win?"

She was driven, Theron.

"You haven't won the last two weeks, either," he pointed out.

"Which is why I ought to win now," Peridot stressed, spreading her hands out in front of her. "I can get us that gremlin one easily, and everything else is just a matter of going faster than everyone else."

But Theron hadn't been given the masses of tech gifts that would make him run errands faster....

"But if you go too fast, you're likely to make mistakes."

Did Theron want holoviewers? Because Peridot was not above getting Theron FIVE HUNDRED HOLOVIEWERS in order to do this!

"What mistakes could possibly be made while fulfilling this series of inane tasks?"

"In this place? Probably more than you'd think."

Peridot looked at Theron, and then looked at the list.

"Get someone's shirt? Make a bookmark?" She glanced up at Theron. "How could we possibly not succeed in locating a squirrel?"

"That's not he part I'm worried about." It was how many thing would get set on fire while they were gaining shirts and finding squirrels.

It wasn't pessimism when flying fish that shot streamers from their mouths were involved.

"You have no sense of adventure," Peridot complained, crossing her arms over her chest. "But okay, we'll do this your way. How would you go about successfully finishing this journey of the scavenging?"
