History of Art / Studio Art Combined Studio | March 24, Periods 5&6

Most of interior of the classroom has been cleared of furniture. What remains has been stacked at the front of the class, along with a selection of things like packing crates, pilates balls, stepladders, that sort of thing.

Autolycus grinned like a maniac. "Today, kids, you're going to work together to create an installation."

Parker waved to her as she twirled, then stopped, calming down by about twenty-five percent. "Hey! We need to kick Skeeter's ass! How are you?"

"That's okay," Isabel smiled thinly. "It's enough being somewhat ET-like. I'd prefer not to look like him as well. And given her habit of changing people...."

She'll just evade the question of how she actually is. Oh distraction. "You're mightly cheerful today."

"I'm still going to try to think of something. Maybe something John can do, since he keeps throwing himself in the line of that wand." Parker shook her head, and then her smile crept back, a little more self-conscious, but still bright. "Um, yes? Maybe? Kinda? Yay, Friday?"

"Sure..." Isabel drawled. "You've been like this every Friday in class."

Her smile was still tight and her hands were fisted shut to hide the shaking, but Isabel tried to relax enough to be happy for Parker. "Something's up. Spill."

And she's not about using a little bit of guilt if she had to. "Distract me."

"We're talking about this later," Parker warned her. "Just not here."

She actually looked shy for a second. "Um. Maybe, possibly, someone said he loved me?"

She made a mental note to avoid Parker for a few days.

But at her words, despite the incredibly bad day she was having, Isabel squeed. "No way! Details! I want details."

Parker grinned, hugging herself. "Jarod. Last night. On the phone. Not only as a friend, oh thank God." She couldn't stop herself any more, and just spun in place. "He loves me he loves me he loves me he loves me!"

"Parker that's wonderful!" Isabel said. "I'm so happy for you."

"Any big dates planned?" Because it's much more fun to think about other people right now.

"No, no. I'll probably see him tomorrow. He works tonight." She grinned, a little giddy and dizzy from the spinning and the glee. "I've been so scared about this for a month, damnit, and to finally have said it would be relief enough, but this, this is--" She laughed again, shaking her head.

"This is wonderful, and perfect, and incredible," Isabel finished for her. "I'm happy for you."

"I heard you mention suspending the balls," she said which sounds OMG Dirty!, gesturing at a few of the pilates balls around them. "How about this?" Isabel held out her hand and several of the balls rose in the air, stopping and turning slowly as they hovered.

"It is, isn't it? Thanks. I can't remember the last time I was this happy. God." Parker's smile only got brighter. She turned to watch the Pilates balls rise. "Yes," she said quietly, happy Isabel wasn't hiding what she could do. "That would be perfect. Nice job, Isabel."

Rory peered over at Isabel, a little surprised.

"Are you a Jedi, too?" she asked curiously.

[identity profile] izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com 2006-03-24 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Suddenly distracted by Rory, Isabel let the balls drop. "Jedi? Um no, just your average alien girl next door," she said with a too bright smile.

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2006-03-24 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
"How are you doing that?" Rory asked - not unkindly, mind. Just curiously.

Re: The Installation!

[identity profile] izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com 2006-03-24 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Isbael shrugged. "Honestly? I don't know. I just do it mostly by visualizing it happening. I can do other stuff to. Like this." She reached out and touched a red ball and half a second later it was purple. "That's pretty much molecular manipulation."

Re: The Installation!

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2006-03-24 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Rory stared. "That's...awesome. How come you didn't tell anyone you could do that?"

Re: The Installation!

[identity profile] izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com 2006-03-24 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
And there's the question she's sure she's going to have to answer a lot in the next few days. Isabel looked down studying the material of her pants. "Because it's never been safe before? And even after coming here, I couldn't. Too afraid I guess."

Re: The Installation!

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2006-03-24 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Rory nodded. "I get that. Kind of. I mean, not to the same degree, but I know that if anyone had told me they could do stuff like that before I came here? I would have totally thought they were crazy."

"I could handle that. It's the people that want to kill you that are the problem," Isabel said. She looked away and then suddenly got busy arranging crates.

Angel noticed the disturbance and came over. "You okay?"

"I'm fine!" Isabel smiled. "Did you hear the radio last night?"

Jake was sitting a little while away, sketching while watching Isabel, sort of pleased that his suspicion had panned out. More pleased that Isabel didn't seem dangerous. At least at the moment.

After making a stockpile of paper snowballs to throw at Xander, Isabel looked around for some more targets.

A paper snowball might have suddenly gone in Jake's direction.

"Didn't get a chance," Angel said. "Why, what happened?"

Re: The Installation!

"Rita Skeeter told everyone I was an alien." Although she said it with a smile, the way she slammed the crate she was moving down was a good sign that Isabel was not happy.
